So Ahsoka is able to hold her own against the likes of Darth Vader and Darth Maul, but struggles in battle against the Magistrate?
She had also seen them in combat before and had experience in lightsaber to lightsaber combat. That was her first time seeing that woman in combat and likely her first time battling someone using a beskar staff. She also was just trying to disarm her, not end her.

Given how Olyphant was featured already, I wonder if they took a play from Justified. That stand-off felt a lot like Raylans last showdown. The stunt double in the suit also moves A LOT like Olyphant did in Justified.
FWIW, that actor Mando faced off with played Johnny Ringo in Tombstone. I think it was another nice nod to an actor who was popular in a Western (and died in a shootout when he lost the draw).

I wouldn’t be opposed to Cameron Monaghan bringing Cal Kestis to live action.
I would enjoy it, but it’s a different time period.

Sebastian Stan is the most obvious Luke Skywalker replacement.
Yep.

Fallen Order takes place somewhere between 66 and the Battle of Yavin. It’s not too much of a stretch to have Kestis Mando.

Kestis in Fallen Order is what, ten years post Order 66? He seems 18-20 in the main timeline for the game and 10 at most at the time of the original order.

I think Fallen Order is 5 years post ROTS.

So he’d be in his 30s for the events of Mandalorian. It can work. Still, I doubt they’ll go that route. I don’t expect Ezra to be the one to show up when Grogu reaches out as he’s likely with Thrawn somewhere in the Ascendency.

I feel like maybe we should get a new member to the crew. Grogu wants to be with Din, I feel one solution is to have someone join them who can help Grogu understand his power.

Man I had my doubts but they absolutely nailed Ashoka

So will Disney have the balls to have Luke (player by Sebastian Stan) be the one to feel Gorgu’a presence?
I actually hope it isn't Luke, that would probably mean that Grogu dies at the hands of Kylo Ren!

How has no one mentioned the tree slice and log fling? That was one of the coolest moves ever.

I've reached the point with Filoni and Favreau that they would have to really, really, really frick up for me to doubt that they can pull something off.
That episode was amazing.

Awesome episdoe, since Ahsoka is Filoni's baby and he has had a lot of input in the show I knew they'd do right by her. Even better Filoni wrote this episode so of course it was awesome. Also it was cool they had a western standoff and a samurai showdown at the same time. Now that Mando has that beskar staff he has a weapon he can use when/if he ever fights Moff with the dark saber. At the end when mando and grogu are walking up the ship's ramp Ahsoka nods at Grogu. Does this signal that he told her when they were communicating he didn't want to leave Mando? Is that the real reason Ahsoka says she can't/won't train him?

Here’s a thought:
Even if Disney doesn’t decide to reboot the sequels, Grogu being so relatively young opens up centuries worth of stories for them to tell.

I've discussed it with friends who are also Star Wars nerds, and we all agree- this show has definitely found it's SW footing this season. It's remained true to "Mando", but we've been able to see X Wings in action, Storm Troopers in close quarters combat (with authentic voices and speech), and now a Jedi in full, intimidating combat form- and it's all been as solid as anything we've seen in movies. And what's more, you can easily integrate them with the Star Wars stuff we've grown up loving.

You call that a struggle?

but that shouldn't have been a close fight.
Would have made the episode dumb if it was over in 5 seconds.

I agree. If I could go back to 1999 and restart the whole prequel debacle and then the sequel hot mess...it would be with this team.
Could you imagine this crew handling anakin and O66? The rise of palpatine?
Then instead of a focus on skywalker, that becomes periphery while the battle between sith and Jedi occurs throughout the universe with the force pulling everything together. Like what we are seeing in Mandalorian.

Dave Filoni continues to be the only good thing about modern Star Wars. Jon Favreau was smart to involve him in this show. Absolutely killed it with this episode.

really wish they had someone competent to make the sequels now. Watching this show and Clone Wars made it painfully obvious there are good stories to tell and people competent enough to bring the stories to life...but
