Just watched the recap episode. Worth a watch to refresh where the story left off.

I enjoyed season 1, then fell off after a couple episodes of season 2. It's a great premise executed decently. Plan to pick it back up, but there are so many good options and so little time.

The last ~4 episodes of S2 were far better than the rest of the series. My interest frequently waned and I considered stopping, but that stretch had me hooked.

I know it's based on the book(s?) and it is what the story is, but I just wish there was less supernatural stuff and more emphasis on what a Japanese/Nazi Cold War would be like.

I was thinking of binge watching the show, but this has dissuaded me. Can you explain further without spoilers?

This is actually a scifi show at its heart. I mean it is based on a Phillip K Dick novel.

So there are interwoven scifi elements, although for large parts of both seasons, they are very much on the backburner and only pertain to really one or 2 characters.

Personally, it is one of my favorite parts of the show. The alternate history can only get you so far, and that is not really what this show is about.

I find the first season to be pretty underwhelming but the second season is infinitely better.

And the best character is the villian.

And no it can not be explain without spoilers. Yes, that element is essentially the MacGuffin of the show, but it is really done in VERY very small doses and the majority of the show is based in alternate history.

There are some small shades of Fringe, if you liked that show. Very small shades.

Thanks for this. I was just wondering the other day when the new season comes out.

Appreciate it.

I will give it a go. I loved The Stand (the book) so I can deal with a bit of the sci fi and enjoy it.

It's not supernatural, it's alternate universe, or multiverse. It works very well IMO. It's about the consequences of the choices we make.

And the male protagonist is one of the worst television characters of all time. I haven't seent any of S3 yet so no sperlers on his fate please.

His acting seems to have improved some. His character seems to have more depth too now. But I’m still pretty early into the season so I don’t know if this will continue.
