While I have yet to watch anything beyond the Prologue (nor will I save for scattered clips over the internet), it's even worse than I thought it would be. A paper boat was the first scene in this?
How many times are you going to brag about how miserable you are?
How very chic. Decry the victimization of Tolkien and then identify with him to claim victim status for yourself. That's what everyone wants to be these days: a victim.
You poor thing.

The dwarves have been great.

Also, this meteor guy is Gandalf right?
Let's think about this- Melkor, Sauron, and his followers weren't initially evil as such, they just wanted order in "their creation". They wanted to impose their own control, rather than make it and set it free.
They don't see the things living inside it as independent and each important on their own.

I actually Posted that before I saw the firefly’s and I was like, oh shite maybe not.
Could still be but idk. I will say, I definitely Want to know.
If it’s Gandalf it would be a cool backstory to why he loves Hobbits.

I’m a prog but talking getting married and having kids? Your response is about a friend that got divorced and of course got half his estate taken away which every adult knows when getting married. Incels don’t understand these type of adult concepts so thanks for proving my point

Am I going to get a scene this good in this series? Jackson was pretty effortless in making them: "And what about very old friends?"

At best that's flashback material, but as the opening scene, with something as epic as Lord of the Rings is supposed to be, are you fricking kidding me? Here's LOST's opening scene for reference on how you start off a show: YouTube
Do you ever stop? Good Lord, keep it in one of the other threads that were created before this one. I agree with some of the same things as you but damn, you take it to a different level.

Finished both episodes. I thought Episode one was going to be a drag, but wasn’t that slow. It wasn’t the fast and the furious but the way everyone talked about it I was Expecting a much slower pace.
Episode 2 was great. The dwarves are fun, and Elrond comes into his own as a character. Galandriel’s character arc might be just learning to chill.
My only gripe is the elven haircuts. If you wanna go with nice normal haircuts and a tight fade for Aradin, why does the king have the weird long height no sideburns cut?

quote:Maybe the cameras and framerate? Wasn't this a thing, that The Hobbit was recorded with something more in line with TV shows, and LOTR was done more traditionally "movie" equipment?
Not sure why, but it looks like The Hobbit more than the Lord of the Rings movies.
Just from a visual standpoint

What weird frick would bring up marriage and kids during a tolkien literature discussion. Should I bring up the origins of speaking Cajun French and how to make a catish courtbouillon you slapdick.

I think Arondir's fade works; it looks better TO ME than the Valerion dude in House of the Dragon with white dreadlocks. He's repeatedly called "soldier" by the Men, so maybe he's almost Spartan in his approach. Keep it tight so it's clean and out of the way.
Regarding his storyline- I get that Orcs are taking the people, but what's up with the black shite from the cow? Is that thing gonna mutate into something else?

It could be only to show that the evil is spreading and infecting the land. The cow grazed by the village that was destroyed

So... got me to wondering about something stated.
Celebrimbor said Morgoth gazed at the Silmarils in wonder and delight for 2 weeks, before seeing his reflection (the evil) and never looking again.
He remarked that they almost converted the Enemy with those jewels.
He wants to make something similar...
is he hoping the Rings will convert Sauron, if/when he surfaces? is that his plan?
Interesting, if so... idealistic. But I'd hope they keep Annatar as a surprise, not willingly involve Sauron in the hopes of 'curing' him.
