Why is John insistent that his daughter is still alive? He mentioned it Sunday night and it was also in the preview for future episodes. It looked to me like she had a missile for breakfast.
Because the official story is that a gas leak is what blew up the building in Miracle. He's probably just grieving and hoping that she disappeared again. I don't really blame John for doing that.

He's just in denial about his daughter actually being dead this time

I don't know. I think there may be more to it than that.

I feel silly but I thought the ending was showing that lady from the very beginning who kept going on her roof every night hoping to be taken away. I thought it looked like Nora but then convinced myself it was the redhead and she was STILL alive even though she was an adult in 1844. Thought maybe we would get some connection between her and Kevin, who seems immortal at the moment. But, knowing it is Nora, well...who knows. That could go anywhere.

I thought I forgot something last season about the baby, glad to know I didn't.

This is really the best show on TV the last 2 years and I am sure this year will be no different.

There is some kind of connection between the carrier pigeons in the initial scene with the Pilgrims and the last scene with "old" Nora and the carrier pigeons. "Old" Nora removes a note from a pigeon and throws it in a bucket full of notes. Also, the nun gives "old" Nora a little something extra, but it's not money. It's black rope or cord and something black folded over.

The biggest question that needs to be answered is will we get the kick arse intro music from season 2. "Everybody is a wondering what and where they all came from, everybody is a worrying about where they're gonna go when the whole thing's done ..."

I'm going to say a hard no on that one. Unfortunately.

Yeah, I don't think any money changed hands. The rope was the price and the extra bit looked like a strip of leather or something.

Nora may have picked up a bartering lifestyle from Kevin Sr. Kev did say his dad was living of the grid... She must not have much need for goods, though. The going rate for a dove release service is bound to be a lot more than the worth of a piece of cord.

Got HBO last year and tried to get into this show but started at the middle of season 2 (those were the episodes that were airing at the time). What a cluster. Kevin kills himself and ends up an international assassin?!? WTF. It was a bust.

A month ago, I gave the series another shot, and actually started at the beginning (what a concept). WOW! Great show. The assassin episode was incredible this time when viewed in sequence. I didn't think there was anyway I would ever make since of that one. Really enjoyed the season opener too.

Why are none of you talking about the most important question from this episode???

The fricking dog running up to get the sammich?

I also thought old nora was the red head form beginning.

And i thought the red head form beginning was a past life of Laurie

speaking of S2, I did a random rewatch the other day of a few episodes and I still consider this scene to be the absolute best of the series.

everything about it is just flawless, especially the build up in the score.

theroux, coon and regina king didnt at least get nominated for an emmy for this episode alone is beyond me.

No offense, but how does this make any logical sense? "Let me watch this show midway through season 2. Damn this shite doesn't make sense. Show sucks!" Blows my mind some people do this then judge a show on it.

I had just finished or in the process of bing watching GOT (all 5 seasons) to get caught up on it. I just flipped over to The Leftovers to see what all the fuss was about. I picked probably the worst episodes to get a feel for the show and I was confused as hell. I didn't have time to catch up on this series from the beginning at the time and felt absolutely no connection to the show (understandably).

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to watch the first two seasons on demand and damn, I'm glad I gave it a second look. I just thought it was an interesting viewpoint from a newcomer to the series and how skewed opinions can be when forming them on just a couple of episodes.

I'm admitting my earlier opinion wasn't well founded, but it was an opinion that was made nonetheless.

Anyway, really looking forward to tomorrow night.

The international assassin episode is one of the best hours of television ever.

Paired with the season finale you are talking about GOAT territory
