Seems like a big mistake to me. I have no idea where they think the natural breaking point would be between seasons 3 and 4, but to me it means one of two things. Either:
A) Season 3 will be another short season, with even more wasted time, because they want to leave content for season 4 (which would leave the season 3 storyline annoyingly unfinished), or
B) Season 4 will be full of added content that’s not present in the source material.
For their sake I hope it’s B. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t.. but at least that way they actually finish the main story.
I do think Season 3 should be better than season 2, just based on knowing where it will be focused. But at this rate they may end up with a much smaller audience by the time we get there. Especially if it takes them another 2-3 years to get through production.
If you look at IMDB ratings, the 6 episodes we’ve seen in season 2 include 4 of the 5 lowest-rated episodes of the series so far.

What is this show building up to? What’s the goal of the overall plot? It’s not to find a cure. It’s not to seek out safe haven to live happily ever after. There’s no arch-nemesis/final boss to defeat unless they drag this Abby plot out for another two seasons.
Just trying to figure out why we should stay with this show.

Their funeral. I've lost so much interest with the nonsense in this show. Why aren't we learning more about Washington Liberation Front and Scars?

After seeing the way that the story was laid out this season, it feels like if you do another season of seven or eight episodes, you would definitely need a Season 4 to wrap things up in some way. Otherwise, you’d have to have a much longer Season 3.
So why didn’t they do a longer season 2 and a 12 or 14 episode season 3 to wrap it up instead of shortened both seasons and a resolution that will happen in 2031 since it takes so long to write/make and put out the show
So stupid

Warner Bros Discovery financial issues. It costs more money to shoot a 12 or 14 episode season than a 7 episode season.
They are a cash poor company

They still have so much story to get through

Unfortunately though they aren't very good at telling a story.

It's still much better to finish it than just cut it off int the middle without a true ending

Those shows didnt have an ending and had to make one up, game of thrones with a different writer. The last of us source material is finished with a good ending.

You have posters on this board that rarely bail on shows, jumping ship mid season. That’s not a great sign.

That's fine. Noone should watch a show if they dont wanna finish it.
I didnt finish the Expanse but I also didnt hope for it to be canceled. I dont understand the obsession folks have with not wanting other people to be able to enjoy a show just because they cant.

But the argument that the source material is already written, therefore the show will end well - unlike GoT and Dexter, due to lack of original source material - is flawed logic. The show is already floundering with its source material.

Its still the best show currently airing now that Andor is over, so it should be the last one on the chopping block.

That's not what I'm doing. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I've made two posts in here since I've stopped watching, one of them was to ask did it get any better. I'm not in here trolling you.
I've watched enough to know that it's objectively not a well written show that has a completely unlikable lead. I think stretching this out to four seasons is almost begging your show to get cancelled. There is no way in hell people will be excited to watch two more seasons of this Ellie. She sucks equally as much or more than the writing.
If they had any sense at all, they'd wrap it up in season 3. But just watching after the credits for 1.5 seasons, nobody in the history of television likes to sniff their own farts as much as these showrunners so it doesn't surprise me at all that they want to stretch it out.

I think they could have finished in 20 episodes for s2 and s3. Trying to finish in 14 just seems impossible though. I don't know why warner bros is insisting on these 7-8 episode seasons with TLOU, HOTD, Penguin, Knight of Seven Kingdoms rather than 10-12.
