I find it very nerve wracking pretty much every time Ellie goes ahead to open a gate or get a ladder or something. That was such a great build up in the game.
I'm like this now watching the show when Ellie is just stomping around moving stuff. I figured at one point she'll slip up and Joel will have to reiterate to stop f'n around.

Imagine thinking these people actually care how good their product is and don’t prioritize their political views first lol.
Political? You mean Bill's Nazi comment? Don't tread on me flag? I figured we all agreed that we do not want too much government control. This game hits on what happens with no checks/balances.

I enjoyed the episode once we got past Bill and Frank's initial encounter. I do think though that it was a missed opportunity to not expand the episode and split it into 2 so that you could follow the storyline in the game more closely. They could have done the flashbacks as they hit certain parts of the town.
The 80s song would have been a signal that they lost containment and he and Frank had been separated. When Joel arrives, Bill thinks Joel is there to help him. They go on their adventure. Change Graveyard to Garden. Change last flashback to Frank and Bill getting into a fight over Frank wanting to keep some semblance of old life even though their containment area is shrinking around them. They found Frank and letter saying how Frank went to get battery to make up to Bill. Bill heart broken prepares last meal to replicate his 1st encounter with Frank while listening to the song. Episode still ends with the open window and Bill/Frank dead.
Could have still have your 50 minutes of back story and 50 minutes of storytelling with the same end result.

we get an hour of a gay love story that doesn't adhere to the game whatsoever
They deviated just a tiny bit from the game. All they did was turn this:

I just ran across a pretty good TikTok. Dude talks about how he's had a bad day but he at least gets to go home and watch the new episode of The Last of Us, excited to see more Pedro Pascal as Joel, and instead they hit him with basically the first 5 minutes of the movie Up stretched into an hour twenty lol
