Offscreen, she either took an escape pod and called for chewie or jumped out and called for Chewie.

For rose and finn maybe a forward trench.

This requires you to just pull stuff out of your arse.

I actually don’t mind this take - it was done really well in the EU

The Force being neither light nor dark was one of my favorite reveals in the EU. I really wanted the movies to explore that more, but we know they like to dumb these movies down.

That’s just it.

They FREAKING were.

That’s why I held out judgement on TFA. I stated, from the beginning, that TFA would be viewed directly with how TLJ was told.

They ALMOST had it.

Then they took a GIANT shite on all of it.

i think a lot of people think they had that discussion and don't realize what actually happened

why there is so much "intellectual" talk

especially by non-fans

Besides Luke weighing his options of kill or don't kill, there wasn't anything intellectual though.

They almost had it in the same way a blind person hits the rim while shooting a free throw...pure dumb luck, no way it was due to any modicum of competency.

For Rose and Finn yeah.

For Rey, not too much.

It's kinda like why didn't a trooper just ice Luke while he was carrying around Dead Vader? Do you really need an explanation or do you just accept that the panic on the station was enough that after the loss of palpatine and his battle meditation every trooper, pilot, officer and every rating in between went well frick it all.

the funny moments of Star Wars were basically restrained to specific characters and apart from dramatic scenes

Yeah, I was gonna add how inconsistent the new trilogy is with who's suppose to be funny and who's not. Not to mention ruining characters by making them punchlines.

Poe does that dumb prank call at the start but does he ever crack a joke or do anything funny the rest of the movie? Is his character even suppose to be likeable? He's just kinda an uncharismatic a-hole. The only reason I rooted for him is because Holdo is so much worse.

I don't remember Luke ever doing anything funny in the OT. Now he's cracking jokes, being snarky, and even the breaking the 4th wall like he stole Han Solos soul. (The laser sword line felt exactly like something Han should've said)

Finn is suppose to be a comic relief. I guess .idk .he can diaf

Hux should've been the "anyone can be a hero" trope but from the First orders perspective. A regular Joe that rose thru the ranks to become general because of his war tactics. Maybe even insinuate that he's more important to the First Orders success than Kylo Ren. But, no he's just some dipshit punching bag and you're left wondering how the frick did this retard become Snokes third hand man

I think with Ben, Snoke, and Hux they were going for an Id Ego Superego that never really fleshed out right.

If you see someone dragging around the body of what was to you the most evil & dangerous boss you've ever had who was choking your other superiors with his damn mind then the thought of fricking with said person does not enter your head, just a whole bunch of "NOPE."

I like to think that's what happened. Or Vader and luke, weekend at Bernie's it.

But some part of me wants a trooper to go all mad Max and ride around a star destroyer with Vader's helmet replacing his and Luke's lightsaber as a hood ornament. He hyperspaces up to planets in a fleet covered in spikes, aliens tied to the hulls and demands glitterstim as TIE fighters covered in ewok skulls and shuttles painted in rebel blood disgorge half armored troopers in frenzied rage.

So goes the reign of Lord Black CharliePiccoloBrahma 946-8.

They tried the “Millenium Falcon returns in the last moment” to save the day trope.

Just one more rehashed plot point.

Millennium Falcon gonna Millennium Falcon. It was always there in the OT having everyone's back.

There's stuff I wanted that I didn't get. Just a nod to the Lady Luck and Lando being the hacker they meant to get with woulda made my experience. Just a sly wink of him missing the call.

Before TLJ I would have said they need to do a Revan movie/trilogy, but post-TLJ I don't want them anywhere fricking near one of my favorite SW characters.

Not surprising.

I saw it over the holiday weekend and the only thing I am really glad about is that it's crappiness made for a good bonding experience with the family.

He did the you talk or I talk bit in 7. I think he is likable, and I must be the only one who like the prank call.

it dragged on too long. Should've just been a conversation that ended with a punchline rather than a joke that just kept going and going
