I'm sure there was a thread but search did not find it so....Great movie. Fassbender works well w/ Fincher and was perfect for this role.

I was so excited about it, but very underwhelmed. Fassbender’s character annoyed me. He constantly talked about his discipline and professionalism, yet wasn’t.

I thought it was ok. I would put it towards the bottom of his filmography.

I remember the movie being just OK, but I remember loving how ruthless the character was. No remorse even fricking killed the secretary.

That’s the point of the story. He fancy’s himself almost non human or above normal people but in the end he’s just like everybody else and that’s what saves his life. It’s an ironic twist on the hit man genre.

It’s all symbolism. His job, the exterior world and materialism convinces him to take on the persona of machine like killer but when tragedy hits home his human side can’t be repressed any longer. It’s all over the movie, even having the Smiths in the background the whole time who are known for their music about breaking down barriers between people and humanizing the unknown to his aliases of conflicted or ironic characters. As he’s on his revenge tour he continues to cross people who pretend to be just like him. The cabby who was just doing his job, the lawyer, the secretary “I’m not a bad person”, the other hitters. All rationalizing what they’ve done using the same excuses he did. In the end he sees his hypocrisy and accepts his humanity to find peace and happiness living a simple life with his GF.

That is a quote from the beginning of the film. When it ends and he is with the maid or gf, he says now I am one of the many.

Yep, his gf btw, Sophie Charlotte, is a smoke show. Most of her screen time was her after being beaten to a pulp but the actress is beautiful.

I hated it. By numbers revenge movie that we have seen a million times. Adds nothing new and is really boring. Also the main characters “I..DON’T…GIVE…A…FUUUUCK !” monologue is cringey as hell and you all know it

Pretty underwhelming for me. I'm a pretty big Fincher fan so I got my hopes up a little but Fassbender's character was just annoying. All that talk and prep and he passes up a golden shot and takes the dumbest shot imaginable. I was just like o good lord dude after all that talk that is the shot you take? Not a bad movie, but I have no desire to ever watch it again.

I liked it a lot. Wouldn't find seeing a follow-up

Great movie. One of only three movies I'd say that about for this decade so far.
