I don't understand why they aren't interested in obtaining movies made by studios. They seem to be into series and their own movies. That worked w/ Buster Scruggs but produced some crap like that Will Smith movie.

because they could pay all that money for studio movies and then the studios take the movies away after the contract is up

with their own content, not only do they keep and build their catalog, they could potentially sell their catalogs to other services in the future as well

Odd seeing a movie with Pacino and Deniro where they don't look like they are completely phoning it in.

This was my biggest concern. Those two have been beyond washed up for a long time. Pacino is basically a joke now and Deniro is all ate up with the TDS. If anyone can get a good performance out of them its Scorcese.

You'd think they'd have had that on the screen, right after the "Oscar Winner" list.

(By the way, she's got an Oscar of her own.)

Because of the talent involved in this and the subject matter, plus this being a long time Scorsese passion project I think it’s gonna be really good.

Al Pacino became a joke to me with that ridiculous overacting in heat.

He came so dangerously close to ruining Heat. Thank god he didn’t.

You're right, he almost did ruin it. That bad haircut, that spray on tan. And that loud acting. Uuugh.

The Disney service coming out this fall

Is going to neuter Netflix and Amazon for a little while.

Disney owns so much shite. Its truly unreal how big of a dick they're wielding.

Netflix has seen this coming for years. People called them crazy when they started dumping all their money in original content over renewing streaming rights for bigger properties. They have a bunch of these things ready to rock and keep people on their platform.

Had they not done that I’m not sure if Netflix would even still be a thing right now, certainly not the leader in the industry

what the hell is up with him? seems like he is over the top in everything I've seen him in except for Godfather 1 and 2.

I agree and that's why they'll survive, but the initial hit the first couple of years from people switching to Disney's streaming platform will sting.

Just off the top of my head:

All things ESPN
All things ABC
Marvel
Star Wars
Pixar
Pirates of the Cari.
All the princess cartoons
XMen/Deadpool
Indiana Jones
The Simpsons
Home Alone
Independence Day
Alien franchise
History Channel
Lifetime Channel
Planet of the Apes
Die Hard
Avatar

Oddly enough, the last role i enjoyed al pacino in (there may be others, i can't recall right now) was "big boy" caprice in dick tracy. I thought he was bad in scent of a woman as well.

EDIT.

He was fantastic in glenngary.

Disney is priced currently like an add on service. Not sure you’re going to have a whole lot of people switching from Netflix to Disney, instead I think they’ll go congruently until Disney starts to raise its price in a year or two.

That name recognition will help Netflix tremendously as well.

Yeah I think the Netflix doom and gloomers due to Disney are getting ahead of themselves, if anything they've proved time and time again to be ahead of the game since being a mail order DVD service

its all the other folks planning on rolling out their own streaming services that will be in for more of a rude awakening....NBC, Apple, etc.

eventually but i dont believe it is going to be there on day 1 launch and the R rated stuff (Alien, Die Hard, etc.) will never be on Disney+, it will more than likely make its way to Hulu. It will not have all of the Marvel and Star Wars stuff on day 1, some of it will still be on Netflix.

This is all it will have from Marvel day 1

Captain Marvel
Iron Man
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World

Disney isn't going to put that long list of properties on the Disney App. It's going to be a select offering that is geared towards families.

They have a ton of platforms, they're going to spread their stuff out over the networks and streaming services.
