Probably due to violence, which means the actions scenes should be a lot better. This will be a better movie.
I am down.

Well they're not kids movies so might as well make them R.

Please God let it be because Evangeline Lilly does an elvish topless scene.
That would redeem this entire series of movies.

Well no shite, the whole movie is them just raping the original storyline.
You cant not make it R-rated.

The drop off in quality from the LOTR Trilogy to The Hobbit Trilogy is almost as drastic as the prequel trilogy to the original Star Wars movies. Such a money grab.

I've actually read people defend the overuse of ultra cartoony CGI as a stylistic choice intended to represent Bilbo's wild imagination.

Those people are wrong.

The CGI in the third movie is ridiculous.
Even the sky looks fake.

Bilbo was suppose to be knocked out during that battle. He's not suppose to be remembering shite.

I enjoyed the first 2 despite their flaws. Fun movies. The third was awful in every sense of the word. Killing Smaug off in 5 minutes wouldn't have been so bad, if it hadn't been in the first 5 minutes. Goes downhill from there. Azog propelling upwards through a foot of solid ice was probably my low point action wise. The same ice that his boulder on a chain couldn't break through.
to this:
How in deep water do you propel upwards with enough force to not only break the ice, but jump out of it and land squarely on your feet? Have him break it and then crawl through towards Thorin. That's intimidating as shite and actually seems possible. Tauriel and Thranduil conversation over Kili's dead body, lowest emotional point. Seriously just awful to have that scene. Show her crying, Legolas sees and walks off with father having convo about Aragorn. Wrap.

The movies may not have been that bad, but as a die hard LOTR fan, I was massively disappointed.

Honesty, they should have stuck with the original concept of two movies.

quote:Yep. I see that a lot of people are mad about Smaug dying so quickly in the last movie, but that was the way the story in the book is told. Jackson actually wanted to bring Smaug into the final battle, but decided against it at the last minute due to internet backlash. That was a battle he couldn't win because people were pissed anyway.

Two movies would have been much better. They could have ended the first one right after the barrel scene, starting up the second one with them arriving to the mountain. Or something like that. Too much damn filler.

I liked the 3rd movie idea better when it was supposed to be a bridge between the films and not just stretching out a small book.

I've watched the EE of LOTR tons of times. Watched the whole trilogy on the big screen in one sitting.
Have no interest to watch the 3rd movie.
Writing, directing, acting, over-reliance on CGI. All failures.
Goblin King is on par with Jar Jar.

That was not even close to what he did in the Hobbit movies. The only thing really crazy that he did in the LOTR was the elephant scene. By then I was so invested in LOTR that I didn't give a shite. Looking back, it was kind of ridiculous. He was like Neo in The Hobbit tho, bro.
