I see the argument, there was enough depth to that interaction with the language and whatnot that it added a significant amount to the storyline (and obviously the ending). But I guess I'm just predisposed to preferring non-alien/non-zombie (or potentially so) stories.

Also, Sigourney Weaver played a similar character in The Cabin in the Woods.

That's exactly what I kept thinking every time she was on screen

Yeah, they figured out how everything happened in the Gorge (and the greedy corporation running it) by looking at an old desktop computer for a total of 30 seconds - that's after finding a backup generator that happened to still work.

I really enjoyed the movie, but this part did kinda make me roll my eyes. Dude had every answer to everything almost immediately

Could be the buccal fat removal. I don't know if I've seen her since this allegedly happened. I think the last new movie I've seen with her was the Northman

You didn’t see The Menu? I’m surprised. Would recommend.

And did you see her in The Defenders?

Very similar character template.

It's on a long list of movies for post-football living. I have a backlog of Criterion 4ks I got for Christmas to watch first.

I couldn’t make it the past the first 10 minutes. The screenwriting was so unbelievably bad that you would’ve thought it was written by a high schooler.

Would have been cooler if the gorge was the actual gate to hell as first described instead of tree zombie guys

I agree that the tonal shifts were about as drastic as ive ever seen in a movie where the tonal shifts werent a device for the story.

I though ATJ was wayyyyyy stronger in her role than Miles Teller. She actually balanced "badass boss chick" with "affectionate woman" really well in a way you dont often see. Also shes way hotter with dark hair.

The explanation and depiction for the Gorge was a bit disappointing (but movies with mystery elements always are). It also didnt seem so dangerous down there that no one would have ever made it out alive.

I think they could have trimmed the scenes with ATJ and her dad.

I think i missed whatever MT said at the end that explained why he was gone for like months at the end.

I enjoyed it overall for what it was, and am glad we got something different.

I watched tonight and enjoyed it. I would say 6.5/10, had its flaws but enjoyable like I said.

Now I will say, instead of a 2 hour movie, give me like an 8 hour tv show. Expand upon the things that worked, and I even feel like the aspects that didn’t work could be hashed out a little bit more and they would benefit from that. Do it right and that could be a great show

You could do something like:

EP1-2: character intros and getting to the Gorge

EP3-4: getting to know, Guarding the Gorge, First Attack

EP5-6: Aftermath & First meeting

EP7-8: In the gorge

EP9: Bartholomew and men attack
