Finished EP 1 and made it maybe halfway through EP 2. I never really know how far I made it until the next night because I fall asleep every night.

EP 1 was a good episode. The Russell's are just awesome. Both of them.

I still have a hard time with pretty much any scene Peggy is in and find myself wanting to fast forward it. I feel like I'm watching Arnold Schwarzenegger Batman and Robin bad level acting.

Hoping that they have the budget for us to actually see the union wars, and that it's not just them reading telegrams about the bloody battles.

Every episode at some point I think of how much money they are spending on costumes. I mean all of the women are wearing a different dress in every scene and those ain't jeans and a t-shirt. That has to be one of the most expensive wardrobe budgets out there.

Curious what folks think about who showed up at the end of E2. When it panned to them:

My brain glitched, and I thought it was Mrs. Russell in a different outfit. Took me moment to realize who it really was.

Her reappearance and who she's married to will add a nice wrinkle to Mrs. Russell's plots.

Carrie Coon is weirdly hot in those outfits

She married Doug's dad from King of Queens. Hoping to see Carrie Heffernan in a post-Victorian bustier dress.

Just watched E1&2. Noticed she was in the S1 recap, so I was wondering when/if/how she would show up.

She certainly got a lot of screen time in S1 to just totally disappear.

I figured she'd pop back up, just not in such a prominent position.

She's in a position that she could REALLY frick Mrs. Russell's world up.

Anybody watching?

I have a hard time with soap opera stuff but the show is worth watching based off of Mr. and Mrs. Russell alone.

Tempted to fast forward through all of Mrs. Scotts scenes. The acting is just so bad.

Happy for Ada. She is one of my favorite characters, I'm glad something good went her way.

We're enjoying the series, and I like the fast pace, but man it can be very cookie-cutter at times. It's almost a stage play from the Gilded Age with subplot, conflict, resolution that are just stamped, stamped stamped, over and over.

Yea it is very very cookie cutter. A stage play is a good way of putting it. I think I stopped Downtown Abbey after 3 seasons because it was just too soap opera for me, hopefully this doesn't go to the extreme because it is pretty enjoyable.

McCallister might have the most over acted accent in the history of television. It's insane how bad it is.Souncd like a disney character or something. I'm not sure how they aren't just cracking up laughing on set like "Are you serious? This is the voice we are going for?"

I find the production values for this show to be weirdly off. It looks like a modern day costume ball compared to Downton Abbey, which seemed much more of its time.

great acting job, because i dislike Cynthia Nixon a lot and she's an entirely likeable character here. been pulling for her to get out from her sister's thumb.
