Spoilers

If so, why would Gandolfini not already know he was a killer and not this wimpy scrub who he can set up for the fall?
I think that has more to do with Bob's overall passive demeanor and him being Gandolfini's muscle back in the day. Figures he can manipulate Bob.

I think Gandolfini even mentioned the fake thug being the killer of that guy to Hardy early in the movie.
The dialogue here is clever. Gandolfini says you know who that guy is? He's the guy that says he killed Ritchie. Nuts in the head he is, spent time in the nut house. -- paraphrasing. Bob basically responds, oh that's Deeds?

i really liked it. loved hardy.

Watched it again today, it's one of my favorites of the last couple of years.

If you liked Hardy in The Drop check out Locke, there is even less going on but it's a terrific performance by Hardy.

On par with The Town

Shut your damn mouth, you dirty little whore! The Town was a mission impossible compared to The Drop.

We kept waiting for the dog to get killed.

Added tension to the film.

Yeah, I was thinking,"This is about to turn John Wick any second now."
Just watched - slow but enjoyable. Hardy was excellent.

It's funny that the relationship between Bob and Nadia reminded me of Rocky and Adrian in Rocky I.

I just watched the ending again. After Hardy gets off the phone call from Gandolfini he looks at his reflection in the broken mirror. It's worth freezing the movie at that point to study the mirror. At 1:31 on my DVR. Something I hadn't noticed before.

First, I'm amused at the comments that it was "slow". In spite of the lack of a car chase or numerous gunfights, it was tense the whole way through.

And Cousin Marv (Gandolfini) doesn't shortchange Bob at all. He makes it clear to Deeds on two occasions (if you're paying attention to what he says) that you do not want to make Bob nervous or frick with him.

Very good movie with topnotch performances.
