I’m sure there will be spoilers below....

Didn’t see a thread on this and I’ve burned through the episodes.

Anyone else catch it?

It’s indescribable hearing real Holocaust survivors speak about their time in a camp.

If this dude did what they’re saying, he’s one of hell of a psycho to bury that deep down in order to be the family/working man he was in Cleveland.

You mean you really don't know the story of how this turned out?

Just watched it because of this thread. Man, kind of speechless.

I felt bad for his family minus the grandson. That last interview with his kid on his lap...holy shite.

Thanks for bringing this up. It was extremely captivating. Dude was a fricking monster and got off way too easy.

Really? Didn't watch the Netflix show, but it was pretty conclusively established that Demjanjuk was not Ivan. That is why the Israelis let him go. He was just some poor Ukranian sob serving in the Russian army that was captured by the Germans. He ended up going over to the Germans, and I guess you can judge him for that from the safety of you living room if you like.

This is what I found to be the fricked up situation on all sides.

Israel/US full really screwed the trials by trying to pin him as a specific person. John really played it well and was right in not confessing to anything and than playing the role as a simple man.

Was he a monster acting as he pleased or a POW forced to work? I can’t say, but it is fact he was working at those camps.

What a life he must have lived inside his head with all the things he was involved in while being a so called ideal citizen of the US.

And another thing, what a slippery slope it was accepting some of the POS Nazis to benefit our country while spending time and resources going against decrepit old men. Yes, I understand better us than enemy countries, but they shouldn’t have been celebrated/rewarded.

The defense attorney getting acid thrown in his face for doing his job is the most fricked up thing I've heard in a long while.

Yea, it’s a horrible thing to relive, and it’s weird emotions when you’re own is defending someone like that but it’s his job.

More of that type of thing is coming, wait and see.

If you dig a little deeper you'll find a long history of it in eastern Europe, Russia, Georgia, B-H, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, etc.

Sweden, France and Belgium are legitimately about to be straight up fooked and I do mean proper fooked.

And then some are going to ask, "but you're talking about Muslims while Ivan was terrorizing Jews."

Yes, I am. It's all intertwined and these things like acid attacks and shoe throwing and knifings .... they all send a different message and have a different meaning.

Just wait, it's coming here. It was already happening in Italy when my wife and I left.

Watching this was a strange experience. On one hand obviously you feel terrible for the holocaust victims, but I also felt bad for John’s family.

The thing I struggled with the most was with how some of the holocaust survivors seemed to be putting on a show. They all said with 100% positivity that he was Ivan, when he really wasn’t. The one Israeli prosecutor kept saying how the survivors shouldn’t be questioned which really bothers me

I've watched the first episode but know some of the story. If I remember it was established he was not Ivan due to about a 10 year (at least) age discrepancy.

They were there, and it sucks for them. As a compassionate human, you want to believe they know who did what and when. But, as a skeptic, you have to weigh in age, traumatic stress, anger for what has happened to them, and a sense of they have a chance to pin something on someone in front of their peers to help them cope.

It was established he was a guard at Sobibor, Majdanek and Flossenburg concentration camps. He was a piece of shite. That was established was established before the documentary.

It was big news and went on forever. The sort of thing that Nightline would update a couple of nights a week (back when Nightline was a huge deal).
