Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. As I mentioned earlier, no more flashbacks, just give us Hal and John doing their thing. Chandler is freaking fantastic in this role.

Agreed. Like I've said, I'm a Lindelof fan, but he really messed up with that DEI hire. But that was a nice bounce back to give me hope for the rest of the season. Wouldn't be the first time a show bounced back from a terrible episode.

Watching now. I laughed audibly when Hal Stewart said "better to burn 6 hours than die in broad daylight."
I guess he learned this in episode 2 (where nothing happened) when he couldn't just wait on John Stewart to get back with the lantern before he stole corpses from the morgue and drove them across town in a rental car like a completely out of character moron.
ETA: Yay. More penis. Just what the target audience for superhero shows has been asking for.

Okay I agree with everyone else that this episode was a course correction.
Hopefully we don't need 2 more mid to garbage episodes before the next good one.
I do think it's unfortunate the Manhunter's identity was so obvious.

So we have established the Manhunter.
What do we think about the Guardian. Is this one in league with the Manhunter? Sure seems to be the case, there is a definite "stop Hal Jordan at all costs" bit going on. I'm not 100% sold that they aren't the same person, but I do acknowledge it seems more likely that this Guardian prefers the Manhunter model (no questions, no thinking, just follow orders), and that's why they groomed Stewart the way they did.
I also think it's obvious he's about more than just following orders without question. If anything, he's about putting himself into a position where he can make a difference, and he is willing to do or say anything to obtain that.
I did think the whole scene at the ranch was ridiculous, although in retrospect it was just a show put on by the Manhunter (not the guy). Attempting to, I guess, intimidate Jordan into leaving.
Regarding the killer satellites, my thought process was- didn't they identify which ones were owned by that company? It was 40, right? Can't Hal just go knock them all out preemptively, that way the threat's negated? I mean, he grabbed one in a matter of seconds. An hour or so, and that's done.
I guess the "people" in the plant weren't really people, just automatons there for appearance's sake?
If so, I can see where the dead Hal at the end of ep 1 comes from.
I want to know more about Sinestro's "coup". I'm not sure he's evil "yet", not in the classic Sinestro way. I think he's on the path, now completely disillusioned with the GL Corps, but not yet with the yellow ring. If anything, he may have been right about what he did, but didn't pull it off successfully, which is why he's imprisoned. I could see Hal busting him out in order to stop the rogue Guardian, and then once they prevail Sinestro goes his own way.

I think this Guardian uses fear a lot. It's a little odd for me but honesty I can't say it's totally out of character for every Guardian so...? I have considered maybe she's a Guardian who is beholden to a different force instead of green though. Like yellow or red, perhaps. Could be working with Sinestro, which would explain how he knows about John.

Well, that too. But I guess HBO has an allotted number of penis appearances required to keep things "adult and edgy".... I'd greatly prefer boobs, but that's not the time we live in.
I suppose that's why this actress isn't hot either.
But I meant- they had them disarmed and captive. If you're going to kill them, I don't think a hundred GLs descend on the ranch. If you do fear that happening, you don't frick with them at all. You damn sure don't let them go without making some deal or arrangement. What's to stop Jordan from getting his ring, and completely destroying that place? He's justified at that point, and the ring makes him a damn genie.
Oh, he's just a space cop? Well, forcibly disarm and threaten a cop, then let him go without any leverage, and see how long it is before the SWAT team shows up.

There's no suspension of belief needed. They aren't good people. That was the entire point of the previous episode.

Eh...the show is not portraying them as bad people. It comes off as trying to convince us they're doing what is best for John.

They are doing what they think is best for John in their minds. But in reality, they are completely overbearing POS. If the show wanted to paint his parents in a good light, they wouldn't have shown them basically attempting to murder him multiple times
The parents are basically Joe Jackson, to an extreme level.
