The only reason I knew Superman's origin story is thanks to Darkwing.

Amazing when you think it about it. All of that training and he was Batman for just a few months.

My problem was that they made him too much of a cripple at the beginning of the movie. It made his return as Batman a little less believable.

Well, he retired because the Gotham Police Force was also on a full manhunt for him and would have almost certainly caught him if he kept it up. I really wish TDKR would have scene like this where Batman almost gets killed by the police instead of merely toying with them: LINK

Focusing on the manhunt and how he reacts to a Gotham that doesnt need him would have been more interesting than most of what they did in TDKR.

I think this thread further illustrates the various plot deficiencies in TDKR. I enjoyed the movie, and thought Hardy's Bane was fantastic, but this was easily the worst movie of the trilogy.

Possibly. But that would have more than likely set up another sequel, something which the Nolan brothers and David S. Goyer did not want. They took a big risk by moving the events of the third movie eight years into the future. Some people (like myself) enjoyed the results for the most part. Others did not.

I kind of figured part of why he wasn't around as Batman was because of what happened in the Dark Knight. But the idea was that the city no longer needed Batman. Even if it had petty crime, there was no need for Batman any longer. Up until the Dark Knight Rises, and the events in that movie. Which sort of forced him out of retirement.

This. He passed the role of hero to authorities. Hard to do that if he's still showing up each night to recover stolen purses.

yes

yes

yes

The whole storyline blew. Just dumb frankly. And while I enjoyed a performance or two in TDKR overall the thing was crap. Including the way Batman was written. TDKR was just not well thought out and really a POS.

I always thought the last one should have been split into two movies. Ala Harry Potter finale. They crammed way too much in one movie, which left glaring plot holes. Had they split it up into two, they could have fleshed out and explained more.

Right. In Nolan's Triology, Batman is an idea that inspires Gotham's citizens to take their city back from organized crime. Once that element is gone, there is no need for Batman.

Have you not read the thread? The OP's question was addressed and explained.

TDKR was not as good as TDK, but its easily the 2-3 best superhero movie out there.

Bull. It's not even in the top 10.

The only way it could be 3rd is if the other two movies in the trilogy are the only other ones considered.

Scratch that. TDKR isn't even in the top 20.

Every single one is a superhero movie.

The only ones where the hero has no super powers are the batman movies and kickass.

Which ones aren't superhero movies?
