The streaming services are going to become so fragmented. One day we'll probably all be back on cable

I'm seriously about to ditch all of these streaming services and just stream these shows illegally.

This is what will happen (again) if that happens:

I'm really sick of every single company trying to build their own streaming service. People cut cords so they could pay less on their cable bill. After a while we are going to be paying close to the same again with site after site forcing us to buy their new streaming service. Something has got to give.

The CW is most definitely NOT free. I have to pay for it just like I have to pay for the other non-network channels I subscribe to for cable.

It is free. It's an OTA local channel most places and they have a free app.

NETFLIX is aiming for domination with almost 90 feature films on the books for 2019. They are courting major players for original content. CW and the likes will come back around on certain properties once they realize people aren't into so many streaming options.

NETFLIX is betting that people don't want to bother adding so many different streaming services or missing out especially when some of these big features arrive (Shaft and Triple Frontier are generating buzz)

I think Netflix is playing this very smartly. I don't want to have multiple streaming services and I doubt most do. If I get rid of cable and pay the same for all these streaming services then what is the point? I will gladly keep Netflix if they keep putting out great original content and that seems to be their intention. I think one of the streaming services that will be able to compete will be Disney. But people won't ditch Netflix for Disney, they will have both or just have Disney because they are such big fans or have children. I feel like those two will be able to exist alongside each other.

I think we'll see the cable version of streaming, that is, pay one service for "bundled streaming apps"

I assume it'll be Hulu+, Amazon or some form of YouTube/Google

You'll have the option of a $29.99, $49.99, $69.99 bundled services, except you'll get to pick and choose. Everyone who wanted alacarte cable, which never really came to be, may finally get what they want

Lol. All you cord cutters are getting exactly what you wanted, a la carte programming. You pay for what you want to watch. No one promised it was going to be cheaper.

No I think this is kind of similar to the MCU, all the studios started falling over themselves trying to get their own shared universes going thinking that’s what audiences wanted, ignoring what actually made it successful.

Yes some of these may have a solid library but once that gets burned through who will continue paying you $10-15 a month for it? Someone needs to bring something else to the table or they’ll end up losing their arse.

The ones that seem built for the long haul are Netflix, Prime, and likely Disney after their Fox acquisition. Hulu seems aware they can’t compete on original content so they’ve started moving towards streaming TV, but that’s getting fairly competitive. Then again having Disney as a majority shareholder now can’t hurt

The CW is a broadcast network, just like ABC and CBS. It is available for free to anyone in range of any CW affiliate. If you choose to pay for cable instead of watching it by antenna, that’s your decision to pay for it.

If you don’t have a CW affiliate near you, you can watch the shows on their app, for free.

Which is why I prefer the old tv model. Watching with a Guide and DVR is far superior than switching from App to App especially when it is constantly making you reenter your login information.

Many tried to tell them it would come to this and they wouldn't listen.

Ain't nobody paying a separate fee to watch season 3 of Supernatural. If they are, they need to shower and find some companionship.

Circle of life. Cable started as six or seven channels for a few bucks a month. It grew to hundreds a month to get hundreds of viewing options. It’s how businesses grow and get cannibalized by competition.

Get an antenna and TiVo and accept that you can’t have everything you want for $10 a month.
