Also pretty funny of Kyle to promise not to say Corey's name, even shake on it, then go right ahead and say Corey's name. I'm sure there was more to it than that during the interrogation, that led him to switch.

Yeah, as soon as they showed Corey saying "This dude said he won't say my name, and even shook hands on it.." you knew he was gonna say Corey's name.

Decent episode.

I think it's hilarious how Cara was all like "You're making out with Marie? I'm judging you, Kyle" like she was over it, but as soon as he flashes a smile at her, she's talking about letting him touch her vagina (that whole exchange was sort of....odd). Cara was looking good at the bar though.

I thought the challenge was kinda cool. And I really like both the idea of the troika, as well as the screens in the house showing everybody the three that were voted for to go in. No secrets...as soon as they leave the room, everybody can see who it is. I like that. MTV seems to really have stepped it up for this season, and it is showing. It feels like old challenges (which were far more entertaining).

I'm betting the grenade has something to do with the banks... like maybe the winner can challenge someone for their money in a non-elimination competition? Or put their money on the line during the challenge?

See that's what I am thinking as well. I don't think they would just make it a "you can switch with anybody you want in the elimination" kinda thing. Maybe you can switch with any of the other two that were voted into the three? Who knows. Interested to see what it's about though. The reason I think it has something to do with the money is because they have that thing on the wall that shows the "standings" in terms of money that everybody has banked thus far. That has to come into play at some point.

Interesting that the troika is the top three overall. I'm not sure how any of the girls (even Nicole) would ever crack the top three with the beasts that seem to be on this season. They better have lots of puzzle-type challenges. Either that or maybe they'll change up the troika rules at some point.

The thing is that the winner of the elimination wins the "grenade" so it has to be something in the future, can't affect this elimination. And yeah, only the three guys (and Nelson) were dressed out, so they can't go straight to someone else anyway.

Or maybe it's a disadvantage for another competitor? Like maybe if Cory wins he can give Bananas some sort of extra disadvantage on a future challenge.

Maybe so, especially since they sort of introduced that whole "advantage later on" thing on this past Champs vs. Stars season.

Also, Bear, you have Nelson ranked WAY too high on your list IMO. That dude is okay at stuff, but overall he usually sucks in challenges. And he's even worse at the game/strategy/alliances. He's basically a slightly better Tony IMO.

I’m wondering if the grenade it’s an ode to the old “lifesaver” era used back in the day where the winner of a challenge gets a physical piece to serve as immunity of some sort or something to challenge their vendettas later on

This format kind of reminds of battle of the seasons and other early challenges when the top performers made up the “inner circle” and they could decide who was up for elimination

Some revised power rankings after Episode 2...

Males:

1. Bananas - Looked like he hasn't lost a step on the first challenge.
2. Zach
3. Brad - Also looked strong in the first challenge.
4. Joss - Dominated the initial challenge, and seemingly didn't have a target on his back in the first Troika.
5. Leroy - Surprisingly terrible at most challenges, but everyone likes him so he's not likely to get thrown in.
6. Kyle
7. Shane - Like BearTiger said, his politics will keep him in, and his main vendetta is with Nelson, who is possibly going home.
8/9. Cory/Nelson - One looks to be headed home and the other will be without an ally. Nelson has a better chance of moving up with a win since he doesn't have the same target on his back that Cory does.
10. Devin - Managed to avoid the elimination, but overall seems like the weakest physical threat.
11. Victor - Obviously no one has any ties to him yet, so he'll be an easy sacrifice.
12. Tony - He sucks.
13. Eddie - Bye Felicia.

Females:
1. Cara Maria
2. Nicole
3. Britni - She did pretty well last season, won the last challenge, and I could see her having an ally in Brad if he continues to do well and is on the troika.
4. Kailah
5. Kam
6. Natalie
7. Veronica - I think being a vet will keep her around for a bit.
8. Jemmye - Same as above.
9/10/11. Melissa/Kayleigh/Alicia - Need more info on this group.
12. Sylvia
13. Marie - LOL

Finally watched the first two episodes last night. Agree with everybody, why do they keep casting Marie? Boring, non-athletic, not hot...There has got to be someone else from the RW/RR/AYTO universe that would bring something to the table.

Highlights so far are BB Natalie's arse, and Divorced Brad doing his best to show Tori what's up.

I found this quote from an article previewing the season which kind of explains what the grenade is. Looks like it will something different each time.

quote:

We’ll let MTV explain: “The winners of each challenge will receive money for their individual bank accounts, but once players are eliminated, their money is added to the final prize pot. In a major game twist this season, ‘Grenades’ will be awarded to players surviving grueling elimination rounds, giving them a chance to get back at anyone else in the house they may have a vendetta against. With everyone out for themselves, stealing an entire bank account from another player, forcing players to be shackled together during another challenge or selecting players to stay up the entire night before a challenge, will surely shake up the competition and heighten the drama, doubt, and deception in the house.”

I knew I had read that on MTV.com but it looks like they've deleted the article.

Damn, this season is going to take fricking forever if they do one elimination each cycle, and they don't even do an elimination every episode. Could be 20+ episodes

This must be their biggest cash cow these days.

Milk it for all it's worth.

I think they may do last weeks elimination plus this weeks challenge. If so that's fricking lame. The eliminations are deff not as suspenseful at the beginning of the show, not sure why.

They will have a purge towards the end where they get rid of a bunch of people all at once.

I really dislike when they do them at the beginning of the episode. They don't need to leave a cliffhanger and should just wrap things up nicely at the end of each episode.

We're all going to tune in next week, even if you reveal who gets kicked off now.

Completely agree, especially because I think they take longer reminding us what happened with recaps because we have to get back to where we were.

If we just start fresh, that time could be put into more in house drama!

The formula works: brief recap, house drama/hookups, the challenge, debate who's going in, elimination, teaser for next week.

Both of them were bad but they were way too far apart for that. MTV messed that challenge up
