Saw last night with the wife. We both really enjoyed it.

One those movies you know what is going to happen in the end but enjoy the build up for it.

Anyone else see it yet?

The book is pretty good. I'd imagine they cut or deemphasized a lot of it for the movie.

I've heard the movie is almost painfully formulaic, reminiscent of those Disney sports movies from the 2000s.

According to the book author it was mainly the time line that they change on how the events went down. I read an interview with him discussing the difference and how he worked with Clooney.

Saw it Tuesday.

A) very formulaic with absolutely no surprises

reminiscent of those Disney sports movies from the 2000s.

B) not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Much better than Disney's most recent formula.

I saw it over the weekend, and I really enjoyed the movie. Predictable like others have said but still cool to see a niche sport get highlighted

I really enjoyed it, but it could’ve been better a little better. I would’ve preferred end credits that included some history and context.

Sometimes there is comfort and enjoyability in a completely formulaic predictable movie done well.

I wish we’d get 5+ of these types of movies each year. I felt like growing up we’d see 10 of these things a year. No need to know anything going in, no cliff hanger for something later. Just a solid movie about something interesting.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a movie about rowing before but it was great. Nailed the setting, great cinematography, gave me the gist of rowing and crew. Had compelling characters in the coach and main rower. Was it formulaic and almost basic? Yes. But it was highly enjoyable.

Completely agree, loved the cinematography and it had a very similar vibe to Seabiscuit, just a classic feel good sports movie. The book obviously is more detailed and goes deeper… but I thought this was a really good adaptation and a type of movie we don’t get enough of.

I’ve seen the trailer, and it pretty much gives you the movie.
