Yoda literally said Luke was too old to begin the training

the trade federation captures Padme

Ok, all he did was slice up some droids. Might as well have given as much credit to Obi Wan here.

quote:

they never encounter Jar Jar and thus never get the invaluable aid of the Gungans

You mean he's responsible for finding the most apparent flaw of the film? That seems villainous.

quote:

the group never makes it off Tatooine

If it were Obi Wan looking for a way off Tatooine instead of Qui Gon, he would have had them off that planet within 12 hours instead of 4 days by hiring a smuggler or making a collect call to the Jedi Order to pick their asses up.

quote:

there is nobody to blow up the trade federation ship.

Qui Gon really has nothing to do with this. All he's doing is getting killed by Darth Maul.

quote:

Without Qui-Gon everyone important does in episode 1 and there is nobody to stop Palpitine.

Actually, quite the contrary. If Qui Gon had failed to save Padme, Palpatine would not have been Chancellor with Padme not calling for a vote of no confidence. So there goes your little theory.

Palpatine was the one hunting Padme. Do you not think he had a plan?

Well, the plan makes no sense. Palpatine should have had Viceroy send the Ambassadors away saying that there would be no negotiation and that their plan was to invade the planet. But why does he need a fake treaty signed in the first place and not just forge it? The plot makes no sense whatsoever.

It's the blame George Bush crowd of Star Wars.

More thought has gone into rationalizing it than went into writing it

Palatine knew where Anakin was all along. Qui-Goin was being manipulated.

According to the early scripts/novelization Anakin was birthed directly from the force by Plagueious. Palpatine recognized the power and killed his master while sending Maul to monitor him (see symbols on Anakin's house).

Anakin was always the plan.

What makes you think Luke wouldn't be born? Padme still might have gone to tatooine and had some hot slave sex.

Without the medichlorians in Anikan's jizz going in Padme's poon Luke is no Jedi.

It's not his fault. Shmi failed to have an abortion.
