The new assistant coach could be a fun comedic foil to Ted.
The actress is pretty funny in sex education
Also, surprisingly great rack

It’s about what I expected but not quite. I like it. It feels less preachy than last season even while covering a very preachy subject. I like the new coach. Doubt I’ll connect with any of the players though. Glad beard is back in 100%. Still happy to give the next one a shot.

So they didnt clarify but i guess now the visitors are gonna be in that tiny locker room the women were using? Doesnt seem like that would be tolerated in the premier league.

It damn near had to be.
I think the first two episodes were fine, but there are plenty of ways to take it off the rails. We'll just have to wait and see.

yes she does.
Sudeikis is good but he's turned into a douche in real life. He wanted to do this season because he's a massive women's rights and equal pay guy. He's huge on women's soccer and WNBA. Big supporter of Meghan Repinoe.
You can tell this is the angle they are taking with the locker room.

quote:Don’t really care for the overarching topic if they do it right. If anything, this hard arse coach is going to show a soft side. They aren’t saying their team could beat a men’s team (yet). They’ve just given the home team the second best locker room. No problem with that.

The EPL has a stadium accreditation you have to pass to be allowed to compete in the league.
Google says there have to be at least 4 showers so that locker room the girls were stuffed in wouldn't be allowed as they said it only had 1 shower.
quote:
General Locker Room & Changing Facility StandardsPlayer Changing Area Size: Higher-grade accreditation criteria require player dressing rooms to maintain a minimum floor area (typically starting around 18m² for base professional levels, scaled significantly larger for Premier League tier venues).
Fixtures: Must include dedicated demarcation per player, separate shower units (minimum of 4 distinct showers), individual washbasins, and toilet facilities segregated from the main seating space.
We know Richmond finished 2nd in the premier league in season 3 and haven't heard it said that they got relegated.
Maybe they'll just allow visiting mens teams to use the womens locker room, but that seems weird because you would think they would keep some stuff in their lockers.

The only reason i even bring it up is because i found it weird that the private jet flying, champions league qualifying owner was completely opposed to dropping 300k on a locker room for her new passion project, which would seem like chump change to her at this point.
For finishing 2nd in the Premier League, clubs receive an estimated total central payout of around £171.5 million to £177.8 million.

There's too much real-world evidence for them to get that stupid.
I would expect a program about a female soccer team to promote women's sports in general and that's fine. It only becomes a problem when the promoting shifts to nagging IMO. I hope it doesn't go down that road.

Pretty sure one of the questions they asked Ted was about them getting promoted back up.

my hearing of that was that they meant qualifying for the champions league. which is kinda confusing, because it's basically an all star league, and because the championship league, which is also in the EPL

Would have big implications if they had them going from 2nd place to relegated under Roy Kent and him somehow keeping his job while also painting him as a failure, so i dont see that being the case.

You have to finish Top-5 within EPL in order to qualify for Champions League (btw it is fantastic soccer if you’re interested)

but that first episode of Season 4 is as innocuous
quote:I can't see where it's headed but I can see that the second episode spent as much energy poking fun at paper feminists as it did promoting "girl power".
Nah, you can see it's headed left. The poor women can't get a fair shake at soccer, a team already folded. He'll energize Richmond and all of the misogynistic brits will support the team and ultimately the league.
Yep, the second episode is more "poor women's team."
If I was going to predict, I'd say that the season will follow the usual format of Ted using his magic Lasso to show people the better person/athlete that's inside them. The goalie and the hooligan twins are pretty obvious, not sure if the lesbians learn to turn their on-field passion into goals or if they're just ongoing side-scenery.
I hope Ted's wife gets some screen time. But every time I see her I just miss The Bookie series.

That's what I thought kept it balanced. Yeah, the poor girls are second class citizens and need a nice locker room, but we also see Rebecca trip all over herself with the "I support women" schtick then in the next breath acknowledge the financial realities of women's sports.
So far, so good.

I think I'll just use this thread to track my "dust in the room" moments which I seem to experience at least once with every episode. This one was when he started describing the Assistant Manager's life story. Damnit, Ted. Stop making me cry.

I feel like it will be heavy on the girl power stuff but as long as we keep getting this much Ted and Roy and Keely inch towards getting back together I am in.
Roy in the visitors lockeroom was hilarious

Like the addition of Lizzie Davis by Faye Marsay from Andor.
Also the library scene and then the waiter at the end of the episode
