I know its Rated R and all but would you allow a 15 or 16 yr old to watch this or am I just being a little over protective?
I am going to say, without a doubt, overprotective.
We're talking about kids whose friends are starting to at least finger chicks and get blowjobs, so Ted isn't exactly breaking ground here.
I was born in '85 and had access to HBO/Cinemax and all that stuff growing up. Dad was military and mom worked on base, and my oldest brother who is 5 years older would watch my other brother and I. I saw a lot of rated R 80s movies starting when I was 8 years old. I haven't killed any body (yet) and have a professional degree, so I think its safe for the 16 year old to see a raunchy comedy. I'm not lauding my parent's parenting style or knocking yours, but if he can't handle it, you've done messed up that kid already.

Bull shite. This movie is extremely vulgar. I would not take my 15 year old to this. If they sneak in on their own they sneak in.

Your 15 year old has heard every word in that movie unless you live in a gated commune or something.

There were a pair of boobs in there - if you are comfortable gawking at breasts together then I guess that counts as family time
Very good movie that suffered a bit from most of the best material being in the commercials.

Ya, I imagine if you are trying to hold some pattern over what is OK for your kid to talk to you about, or what you condone, you'd want to avoid sitting with him during this movie.
But the kid is gonna see this movie regardless within a year of its release, so having just an objection over the content is silly IMO. And having a problem with just the content alone is different than what I've said above in this post.

I've avoided the commercials like the plague since I saw the first trailer, but maybe that wasn't good enough.

I laughed my arse off, and the chick I was with did too. We both like Family Guy, and this is almost a live action version.

I laughed maybe twice. But then again, I hate Family Guy.
I've come to believe that Seth McFarland is incapable of creating two comedic models...

The movie was not very good to me. The movie was indeed just like watching family guy and I had about 3 laughs.

I saw this movie against my better judgement because the reviews were pretty good. I should have went with my gut because this wasn't very good. There were a few mild chuckles but this is nowhere near 21 Jump Street for funniest movie of the year.

And I love the Airplane reference.
The Airplane scene was a bright spot.

I can only assume this has something to do with a generational gap, because Ted was fricking hilarious. McFarlane does toss in a bunch of pop culture references for his humor to hit

His schtick is PLAYED OUT...

Haven't seen it but it doesn't look funny at all.

I thought it was really funny, a hell of a lot better than I expected.
You may want a thunder buddy after you see it.

Seen it twice. I can't say that I have gone BACK to the theater for too many movies before.

I need to go back only because I missed so many of the jokes the first time because I was laughing so hard

TED was hilarious. The whole theater was laughing at times. I laughed pretty much the whole movie. Will definitely be seeing it again when it hits DVD.

Girlfriend and I both thought it was hilarious.
