Variety review of Heads of State. They decided to include Superman in this review

quote:

You could be forgiven for writing off “Heads of State.” But then, you would miss a movie that’s no sillier than “Superman” and a lot more entertaining (a comparison worth making, since both adhere to a mythical sense of heroism). After opening with a spectacular shootout involving a tertiary but important undercover character named Noel Bisset (played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas) — caught in the crossfire of Spain’s messy La Tomatina Festival — the film introduces its incredibly capable world leaders.

Being afraid of going against a current day Jurassic park movie is like intentionally walking a 90 year old Hank Aaron in a softball game bc you’re scared he might hit a homer on you

I think it’s more to do with F1 having the IMAX exclusivity for 2 weekends. You aren’t winning a bidding war for that against Apple when they went all-in on promoting F1.

You think the boy scout Reeves type fans wouldn’t like this one? It seems most inspired by that era to me

Half the teaser is just Superman yelling at people. Every other Superman wasn’t just powerful physically, they carried themselves like someone actually worthy of the “super” part. This guy? So far he just seems like a dude with Kryptonian powers and a chip on his shoulder.

This summed it up well.

That's why the Reeves version was popular. He was a flawed, awkward person full of self doubt and struggling with his power, but was inherently caring and good natured

Oh don’t worry he’s not going to be patriotic. Get ready for “Truth, Justice and the human way” instead of “The American way”,

David Corenswet has settled on "Truth, Justice, and Good Things".

Recall also that Hollywood shitcanned "the American Way" as far back as 2003, when the Superman Returns version of Perry White went for "truth, justice, and all that stuff".

Because you didn't quote what you were responding to, making it unclear.

But yeah, the old superman motto is a product of wwii propaganda for children in the 40s. That's fine. Anyone who thinks his foreign-born patriotism is the core essence of Superman is probably not a very serious adult, and is more likely just trying to signal his virtue online. So he can then complain, of course.

This motto has also changed several times since the 60s. And the better tomorrow is a call back to the earliest superman stories. Ya know, the Man of Tomorrow and all. But it's more fun to clutch clutch clutch.

Raised entirely in Kansas by American parents Jonathan & Martha Kent who taught him right from wrong while, which you would dismiss out of hand.

Half the teaser? That was one scene ripped directly from All Star Superman the comic.

Snyder prominently featured him in front of the American flag in marketing. It’s during his first battle with Faora

Which one are you talking about, when he yelled at Lois or Lex?. Most people, myself included, don’t read the comics. We know the character based on how he’s been portrayed in live-action movies. So if this version carries himself in a totally different way, he’s going to feel foreign to most moviegoers.

he didn’t yell at Lois. He should have emotion! He shouldn’t have emotion! Yall will never be satisfied is the bottom line

And the scene where he says where’s the dog is directly inspired by All Star Superman. Maybe you should educate yourself on the character more?

Lmfao, just say you’re an American hating commie because we all know that’s why you’re making this argument. That would be a lot easier than embarrassing yourself, pretending to know what you’re talking about.
