That's a little insulting. They're the entire reason for Superman's boy scout persona.
The father gives him a nice pep talk but still, they’re a weak point in the movie.

Just my opinion maaaaaan. They both came off like country bumpkins and Martha’s accent was terrible. It was really the only casting miss imo. The rest was spectacular.
I loved the characterization in the Smallville tv show

That's unfortunate.

Agree on Martha's accent, it was so artificial.

I thought it was a good movie. Not bad. Not great.
Gunn smashed a little too much into the movie. the plot gets pretty convoluted but the characters save it.
Also, this may have been one of his weakest jobs at directing. His weird Sam Raimi "Evil Dead" close ups and camera swings felt and looked really weird to me.
The daily planet people existed. But from a comic and character perspective, it's one of the best portrayals of Superman we have seen. This was a good setting the scene movie without being an origin story.
I didnt love the twist he did with Jor El and the portrayal of the Kents.
I'd say 7/10
eta: thinking about that twist, it feels eerily similar to what Reeves is doing in his Batman movies...

I will also offer that he feels unjustly persecuted and projects himself, his personal experience into the Superman movie. He says so when interviewed talking about Internet bullying, which is apparently a part of the movie as well. So because he was “canceled“ for his twisted and sick jokes about children, he sees himself as a Superman like character.
That’s pretty effed up.

It’s literally like a 5 second humorous scene

The reporter asks & Gunn goes into the parallels he has with Supes .
He made the movie.

That’s fine but you’re complaining about self-inserts that ruin the movie without seeing it
You’d probably chuckle if you saw the scene

I’m pointing out the self inserts which aren’t necessary and cringe. Peter Jackson put himself in Lord of the Rings multiple times, (and his kids too) but he wasn’t showing up in comic book form or highlighting his personal experiences as being what drove the script.
Call it fun all you want but from his dog being the basis for Krypto, his view of farmers living in trailers, appearing on the comic book cover variant, there’s a lot of James Gunn projecting into this one movie.

You seem angry abt interviews without actually watching the movie.

You said, without evidence.
I'm not angry. I'm just pointing out that James Gunn is massively tied to and inserted into this movie. He even says so in those interviews. I'm going on the very words of the director himself.

Yea, well you'd be wrong. I really want to spoil the movie, but I'm not.
It's a perfectly friendly family movie with a total of 1 political statement (abt something both sides can agree on)
Krypto is vital to the story and is an excellent addition.
I hope you actually watch the movie.

As much as you don’t want to like it SEK, I think you’ll enjoy it. Give it a shot Thursday

I'm not wrong. Anyone who's JUST watched the promotion of this movie, the interviews, and what Gunn HIMSELF has said, the reasons for why he chose to put in a dog, why he chose his OWN dog, and why he left out "the AMERICAN way", it's clear he's projecting his personal views and experiences onto an already iconic character.
It's there for everyone to see, and it's not just ME saying it.
