Watching Deadpool to get the thought of Suicide Squad out of my head. Saw it last night and I was not impressed at all. Almost walked out during the final fight scene with Enchantress, that was laughable.

Suicide Squad opens to $267 million worldwide
quote:I thought that the bad BvS response would hurt SS. Nope. The movie may fall off from here, but it's good to know that people still want to see these characters. And (at least from the people I pay attention to) I think the fan response has been better overall than BvS.
Suicide Squad opened in first place domestically with an estimated $135.1 million from 4,255 theaters, an average of $31,752 per location. The opening marks the biggest ever for the month of August, surpassing Guardians of the Galaxy‘s $94.3 million from 2014. Suicide Squad also holds the largest August Thursday preshow of $20.5 million. $11 million of the weekend total came from 382 IMAX theaters, where the film averaged $28,871 per location. Suicide Squad earned $65.3 million on Friday, took a 41% drop on Saturday with $38.8 million, and added $31 million on Sunday. The Warner Bros. release received a B+ CinemaScore from audiences, ahead of Batman v Superman‘s B score.
Suicide Squad also dominated the international marketplace, earning $132 million from 17,670 screens in 57 territories over its first five days, for a worldwide total of $267.1 million. The IMAX global take was $19.2 million, which surpassed the company’s previous best August opener Guardians of the Galaxy ($15.9 million). Internationally, the film marks the biggest August opening ever, the all-time biggest opening for an IMAX film with $7.2 million, the 2nd biggest DC opening of all-time, and the 5th biggest Warner Bros. opening of all time.

hopefully that allows it have a sequel

I'd love to have a sequel to this movie.

40% drop from Friday to Saturday. That's really bad.

It's not going to do a billion dollars, but it's going to do really well. It's the last big action release of the Summer (if you don't count Ben Hur). It'll fight it out with Bourne and Star Trek for a week or two and then finish out it's run against the Pete's Dragons and Sausage Parties.

We just shouldn't expect this movie to blow us out of the water.
quote:It wasn't.
It was supposed to be a fun and entertaining movie.
I'm not overly critical of movies. I'm there to be entertained. This movie just wasn't good. At all. None of the people I saw it with thought it was worth a shite, either.
ETA: The ending fight scene was laughably bad.

Really don't understand the argument by people that say "oh we weren't expecting a great movie so it was good"
This movie needs to cause people to lose jobs. It was that bad.
Yeah the final fight scene where they covered up the stunt doubles with fog to disguise the lack of effort into a well choreographed fight fricking blew arse hole.
Into the Badlands is a cable show with a fraction of the budget yet had better fight scenes than BVS and SS. I don't know how these big studios get away with this shite.

I just don't see how you can't be entertained by Suicide Squad. It's nowhere near he best comic movie, but I found it entertaining. I'm not going to pay money to see it again, but I enjoyed it.

I agree. Starting with every critic who said it was worse than the last Fantastic Four movie.

The villain killed the movie for me. The script, editing, pacing were a complete mess, but I would've enjoyed it a lot more if the last act turned out better. Like another poster just mentioned, that last battle was laughably bad. Like GOAT bad.

I honestly thought it was boring and couldn't wait for it to end. The action scenes were bad. The villains were bad. The script was bad. Just all around bad.
I enjoyed Mike and Tom Need Dates more than this hunk of shite.

Killer croc is not getting enough hate in this thread
Posted on 8/7/16 at 1:58 pm to wildtigercat93
Well, I've never seen Killer Croc as a good villain. He's just a stupid monster that Batman kicks the shite out of. So he was about what one can expect of the character.

It fricking set an box office record for an August opening...the amount of sheer stupidity in this place never ceases to amaze me.
I'm sure you were part of the crowd on here bitching about Will Smith being cast before anyone saw a single clip of the movie.

He was great when he first appeared as a crime boss and the killer of Jason Todd's parents. Once they retconned out the Todd killing and turned him into another monster, he lost his charm.

Whose decision was it to make him the most stereotypical black Guy of all time? They probably cut out the scene of him stealing Jordan's and talking about watermelon
