So how is this a reboot again?

I don't think that they ever said that they were rebooting. Gunn said he wanted to take the franchise in a different direction. He also said he was going with a new team and they recast Deadshot. I never doubted that there was a chance of Robbie making an appearance as Harley.

DC will never be better than Marvel at this point. They are too far behind and scattered, no matter how many WW they come up with

Suicide Squad 2 could literally be 90 minutes of howler monkeys screaming and shitting and it would still be an improvement over the first one, so frick it, I’m in.

He has a point. It feels like DC is just trying play catch up. Marvel took a long time weaving a web and it has been a homerun.

It’s a childish point.

Apparently DC is holding out hope that Will Smith will return to the character as it was just a schedule conflict that prevented him from being in this movie.

Depends on context. If it is a marvel vs DC dick measuring contest, sure. It isn't a stretch of the imagination to see the difference between the two. Marvel just seems to have a good plan and executes. I count tell you where DC is at and they've only had a couple movies hit the target imo.

The context is that we’re discussing a movie and he turned it into a dick measuring contest. If you want to have that bullshite then start a thread about it. Responding to a casting announcement with a “DC will never be as good as Marvel” is just a kid farting for attention. He’s not trying to make a valid point.

I'm one of the biggest DC defenders on here. I loved BvS, MoS and JL. But, you're right. The first Suicide Squad was complete poo.

Sources say that Gunn’s focus is to take the franchise in a new direction
is it really a franchise when it's one movie? That's what's wrong with hollywood. They just want to reuse ideas.

When it's the second film in a series that is also linked to other films, it's a franchise.

When the first movie was as bad as Suicide Squad was, it shouldn't be a franchise. It should be a reboot acting as if the first movie never happened.

James Gunn's 'The Suicide Squad' Casts 'Ant-Man' Actor David Dastmalchian: He's going to play the Polka-Dot Man! Wait, who's the Polka-Dot Man?
quote:

The actor now joins Margot Robbie, who is returning as villain-turned-sometime heroine Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney, back as Captain Boomerang, and Idris Elba, who was initially taking on the role of Deadshot before a script change saw it evolve to a new, undisclosed role.
quote:

Polka-Dot Man debuted in 1962's Detective Comics No. 300. Abner Krill was a low-level crook who tried to make a name for himself with spot-themed crimes and a costume that included some amazing gimmicks, such as spots that transformed into buzzsaws and flying saucers on command. Gunn has shown an affinity for pretty obscure comic characters — this one has appeared less than a dozen times since his creation — and the character is said to lean into his embarrassment of his "lame" abilities.
quote:

He may be best known for playing the ex-convict Kurt in Marvel Studios' Ant-Man films and frequently collaborates with director Denis Villinevue, having appeared in the filmmaker's Prisoners and Blade Runner 2049. He will also play Piter De Vries in Dune, Villinevue's upcoming big-budget adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel that the director is making for Legendary.
