Marvel is not paying the critics that's insane. Although I did like this movie and don't agree at all with the 29% I understand it has problems

I'm excited to see the movie despite the horrible reviews.

And one thing I really hate is ...how in basically every review they have to compare it to Marvel.

Because "F Marvel" that's why.

Kidding, they would compare it anyway. marvel vs. DC has been a thing since the 1970s, so this is just par for the course.

Went and saw it this afternoon. Really surprised at the low rating, I thought it was a pretty fun movie. Robbie and Leto are batshit and just come off as fricking scary as shite, mainly because you would never know what they'd do next.

Leonard Maltin hated it, but mentioned in his review that his son in law read comics and he said it wasn't great but he enjoyed it.

Just got back from it.

I liked it.

Don't get me wrong. The story was shite. The editing was horrifyingly bad at times.

But the characters were pretty money.

The end was stupid but honestly not dumber then the last couple of Iron Man movies.

Probably a 6 out of 10 from me.

My only question is if the Enchantress could take their weapons from them at ANY time...why bother with the hand-to-hand BS. That was among the many dumb things about the ending that left me going...hmmm.

I think comic fatigue is starting to set in for some critics and they're taking it upon themselves to put a stop to it.

Thank God. It was fun for a couple of years, but this is getting ridiculous. It's just all the same to me now. The concept to loop all of these movies and characters together was a novel idea but it's taking too long. I guess I'm just tired of last minute heroics and this obligation to see every movie to know what's going on. I'm so out of the loop and bored with it by now that as far as I'm concerned DC is about 10 years too late.

i think bvs and suicide squad earned the crap they got from critics. both are messes, though i enjoy the bvs ultimate edition.

critics creamed themselves over civil war earlier this summer. but i do think the indie critics have some resentment. i listen to a few podcasts with some guys from indie wire and the old dissolve website and they do whatever they can to dump on comic book movies.

As they should. It takes absolutely no originality or creativity to make these movies anymore. It's as bad as the sequel trend your seeing in Hollywood. Your either going to get a comic book movie, same plot as the others, just replace the heroes and villains with new ones, or your getting Jurassic park 11: Dino Jizz Island

Once again Forbes has competing takes on the same movie. They just came out with their positive one.

'Suicide Squad' Is A Blast, But Reviews Are A Dumpster Fire Of Hyperbole

quote:

Ahhh, but a blast of what exactly? Suicide Squad is fun, scrambled, and contains an excellent cast. But why all the salty reviews? Why the edgy and upset headlines? Several critics hate Suicide Squad with the intensity of an angry toddler, which isn’t unexpected since the DC cinematic universe seems to be their favorite punching bag. First thing you have to understand is that there is a character named Captain Boomerang in the film, so calm down your expectations of seeing something remotely rational. I’ve read the comics for Suicide Squad on and off again for years and David Ayer blew me away with his surprisingly faithful adaptations of the characters and by capturing the feel of the comics. Suicide Squad isn’t the grim, dark Batman V Superman, and it isn’t the silly heart of gold criminal group from Guardians of The Galaxy. These are hardened homicidal criminals in a world of flying aliens and a rich guy who likes to dress up like a bat – so buckle up and expect things to get super weird and disjointed.

Mark Hughes from Forbes gave bvs and suicide squad glowing reviews. I legit think he is on wb's payroll.

Audience score is over 75%.

Quite the disparity.

The rotten tomatoes critics have sucked lately.

Ghostbusters had a 73% critics and 57% audience.

Audience score is a much better meter than critic score.

I bet most of that audience score is dc fanboys repeat voting. That score is so easy for fans to hijack.

And I bet the high ticket sales are from DC fanboys buying tickets to SS and seeing the talking cat movie instead.

Considering how big the difference of opinion is here, it should not be surprised to see similar response elsewhere

I read some of the reviews aggregated by RT earlier and I just have no idea what these reviewers were expecting, or what they actually want these films to accomplish. These films aren't made to win oscars.

Just got back from seeing it. I had no expectations, and I really wanted to like it, but frickkk, it was just so, so bad. I couldn't wait for it to end.

I think film critics do tend to judge summer blockbusters by the same standard as Academy Award contenders and are also growing tired of comic book films. There is also a disconnect between audiences just looking to be entertained for a couple hours and critics who are looking for a well made film. I think a movie can be utter cheap but as long as it is marginally coherent and provides eye candy, I feel like most audiences will have a good time even if the film is not objectively good.

That said, I did take issue with a number of things in respect to the film even though I enjoyed it and will buy when it releases on Bluray. The editing was choppy in the beginning, especially at one point where it looked like Rick Flag was in two places at once. Every aspect of the villain was just bad. No motivation. Didn't even know who or wtf they were. What weapon was Enchntress trying to build? Why?
