They're both foils for bigger characters. Jonathan for Will and Nancy for Steve. They just don't add much value on their own.
I mean… sort of? Or at least they were bigger foils for them in earlier seasons. Maybe it’s just that the writers really haven’t done a good job setting up a convincing love triangle for Nancy, Steve, and Jonathan and that’s whays lacking?

My guess….They defeat Vecna and rescue Holly and the kids. I think Hopper dies, El lives and she and Mike run off together. Will gets a boyfriend and they live happily ever after.
I thought my 13 year old son was going to have an aneurysm during the Max and Holly scene. He kept screaming at them to shut up and run.
I was ready for Jonathan and Nancy to die. He’s my least favorite character.
The Will “coming out” scene was cringe, but not as cringe as I thought it would be.
They definitely amped up the dialogue to stretch out the episodes.
Will having powers has saved this season. It’s been the best part.

Lot of loose ends to tie up for only one episode left. Curious to see how this thing ends

The Max and Holly monologuing right before the portal was so forced and unnecessary. It’s like the writers got to the very end and thought “oh shite, how do we get Holly out of there? ”
As an afterthought.

I enjoyed volume 2 for the most part. I haven’t read all the comments here but I’m sure these have been discussed at length. There were 3 things that really bothered me.
#3 Commando Nancy. She would’ve gotten her head blown off the when she popped up over the van. That shite was ridiculous. You have two people with powers in the van with you but Nancy going full Rambo is our plan?
#2 is the laundry room in the hospital. They are hiding at the end of the row with a radio playing and the demo dogs couldn’t find them immediately?
#1 is Will’s 10 minute coming out scene. That could’ve been a 2-3 minute scene with everyone telling him they loved him no matter what and move on.
Other than that I don’t have any major complaints. I feel like the story should’ve moved forward more in those episodes. But I guess I’ll have to see the finale before I pass final judgement on the season as a whole.

So how do we think this finale plays out? Shitty writing, acting, and gay stuff aside
8 is working with/supporting Vecna and bamboozles 11. Hopper sacrifices himself to save 11 and defeat 8/Vecna

Will and Robin defeat Vecna with the power of gayness
Nancy goes the girl-boss route and stays single because she doesn’t need no man
Hopper sacrifices himself for El
El stays in the upside when it collapses and kills herself
Straight white people are not allowed to be happy together

Mrs. Wheeler randomly becoming a hero and carrying around an oxygen tank on the off chance there is a commercial dryer to throw it in to blow up demo dogs bothered me more, lol.

Yeah that too. That entire scene bothered me. Felt like some really lazy writing.
ETA: And another 3 episodes have gone by without anyone giving a shite about Ted. Add that to the list of things that bothered me.

Does it bother anyone else how they just "figure out everything" so fast? Like when they just knew how to wire the power from a radio tower? Or how they are just living in this crazy scenario and they just accept it all? Also, the world is supposedly coming to an end but they still find the time and have the urge to talk about how gay they are?

Yeah, Max clearly didn't let Holly know her plan to leave her behind. Holly is the only reason she got out since she found that last memory in that hole. Max had pretty much quit looking.

How super convenient was that crack or whatever on the lens cap that matched up exactly where that hole needed to be? Why would you keep looking through the lens? If you knew you were pretty close just start looking around. And why does she have to fall through the wooden hatch way like she did? She would’ve felt a wooden doorway or whatever underneath her foot.

Will confronts Vecna, letting him know he is openly gay and not afraid of him anymore. Vecna then announces he is also gay. Him and Will become a couple and Vecna stops trying to take over the world.

Love too how these demon dogs in the hospital can take a bullet but one Lucas kick to the chest has them flailing back.
Like I said so much plot armor and convenience in the writing. It’s embarrassing. Pre teen MTV slop with a huge budget
