I just don't understand this reaction. It's a small town in Indiana. My wife is from a small town in Indiana. Not many black people there so the ones that are there probably tend to date white people by default. The only solution to your issue is to unrealistically shoehorn in a black girl for Lucas to date or to just make Lucas off limits to dating because he doesn't have a "racially compatible" love interest. Neither of those seem like superior choices to me.

Completely removing the shadow monster & the upside down from S3 would be an odd move imo. I don't think they should completely remove themselves from Hawkins,IN. But I'm sure outside forces will enter the Hawkins community at some point. I highly doubt this is the only government lab or the only entrances into the upside down.

It reminded me somewhat of the Queen from Aliens, especially that long arse head. I got an Aliens vibe from Eleven’s “Ripley” hair and the scene where the soldiers died from the trap.

It felt like they were going to explain the real reason why he was so adamant about her staying away from lucas specifically, but they never did. Did i miss something?

I think he implied it was a rule from the abusive father. Although it doesn't have to be racism, it could just be "you know we have this mysterious back story and you shouldn't date anyone because of it." Lucas was just the only boy he kept catching her with.

yeah that's what i sort of figured, the whole "you can't see him because he's black" didn't really feel right for his character. But it's still sort of a small enough part of the show that to set it up for future seasons, without laying out a reason behind it, seems weird. i just kept waiting for them to explain that, and apparently they didn't.

He never said “you can’t see him because he’s black”. Not saying it couldn’t be race related. But I think it’s kind of a stretch by some viewers.

that was kind of my point, it was silly to think that was the reason, but they never gave us an alternate one so we're kind of left with this bizarre funny open storyline.
moreover i think they were legitmately trying to make us believe that it was because lucas was black so they could then lay the real reason on us....but they never did.

Anyone else think Dart may not be the slug Will threw up? Weren't there a bunch of eggs in the upside down last season? But the slug appears to grow inside the host until ready to come out. And it seems Dart wasn't controlled by the Mind Flayer like the others, so he may not have been connected to him at all and therefore still out there potentially.
I could just be rambling, but seems like there's some assumptions being made about the demodogs that could be wrong.
EDIT: We also assume demodogs are adolescent demogorgons, but it seems odd that demogorgons are solitary hunters like sharks but as adolescents act as pack hunters? The demogorgon wasn't really very efficient at hunting; it just smelled blood and attacked. It lost a young teen boy. The demodogs have a very strategic pack hunting mentality, unless it's just the Mind Flayer controlling them.
