Yeah I just finished Utopia (2013/2014 UK version). Pretty cool show, and a great watch during COVID for the conspiracy theory crowd. It's on Amazon Prime for those who are interested (but watch the original UK version, not the more recent American remake, which is also on Prime).

uk version is way better. leave it at that.

I've only watched the first episode of Station Eleven so far, so I can't comment on it yet.

i mostly just meant in context of both shows share a sense of a vague impending apocalypse based around the flu (station 11) or the vaccine for the flu (utopia). as well as a vague focus on a graphic novel station 11/utopia. maybe some of the odd style to the storytelling contributes to its reminiscence to utopia.

but the content of the show isnt really similar to utopia in figuring out how to stop it, clandestine groups orchestrating the apocalypse, blackmail, etc. im still not sure what station 11 is going for, but i enjoy the more odd style and story. just kinda feels slightly like a mash up of utopia and another post-apocalypse show i cant recall.

I watched the first 2 when I originally posted this and just watched the next 2 last night. I think episode 3 was great and I really liked episode 4 too.

I laughed when he read the page from station eleven and it read "I remember damage" and he said something like 'so pretentious!'

Episode 8 and 9 are really really good in my opinion. Tyler returning to the Airport was intense. Its amazing to see what the people who live in the Museum have become. Are they the good guys or bad guys? I like this show...sometimes when i am watching this show, i feel like this is how devout Covidians truly truly wished Coronavirus had played out.

Nice!

Yeah I like this show. Sure you gotta suspend disbelief here and there, but that’s the case with any apocalyptic movie. It’s more realistic than anything with zombies.

Holy shite the last 5-6 minutes of Episode 9 was incredible.

The scene where Jeevan is hugging Frank and the orchestra music playing over the snow and flashbacks was amazing.

This might be the best show I've seen this year.

ETA: Within the last year.

Okay, I decided to give this show a chance, and I’m glad I did. I’ve really enjoyed it. A bit of a stretch at times, but a great storyline and lots of character buildup. Hoping the finale takes it out on the high level that it’s been on so far.

A punch to the gut for sure. Seems each episode is better than the last.

How many episodes are left? Just one? I feel like this has gotten stronger and stronger. My favorite episodes, though, are the ones focusing on young Kirsten, Jeevan and Frank. They have great chemistry.

I just watched the episode with the play....maybe the most emotional hour of TV I've ever seen.

And Frank's Tribe Called Quest was in point

kinda sparked a rewatch for before the finale. Theres so much foreshadowing thats easily missed from short convos that may not seem super important. havent read the book at all, but from the show im making some vague guesses.

in one of those, tyler said once he lights the torch the undersea will come. i assume lighting the museum on fire will attract more of the cult kids to do some frickery around the play.

I think theres also been other foreshadowing that the entire play will be killed off, some background comment made. I think theres also some overarching symbolism coming from the play King Lear.

This show just got better and better and better and the finale was simply great!!

The scene with Kirsten and Jeevan at the end was beautiful...onions...he became her father on every level and in their reunification after what...20 years apart...words weren't even needed between them!! Imagine being faced with Jeevan's predicament at the beginning? Knowing what his sister told him and with that information....to take Kirsten with him or not? It was a show about survival yes...but ultimately, it was simply a show about humanity. A really nice and well done show.

And you knew it was coming, but the writing was so well done that it was still a surprise when they finally saw each other.

It was a really well done series and it's so different than the book. I really like the idea of limited series. This and Watchmen, there are more stories they could tell in these worlds but they don't have to and knowing this is only 10 episodes made it feel more special.
