For what it's worth, @atomtickets is reporting that #StarWars #TheRiseOfSkywalker sold more tickets in the first hour of pre-sales than any movie in the company's history, besting #AvengersEndgame.

@JeffDLowe

The "Star Wars Is Dead" crowd won't be pleased to hear that AMC's ticketing system has absolutely fallen into pieces from demand over 'The Rise of Skywalker' tickets.

As bad as I've ever seen for a major release.

New pick from EW

This is the final film of the trilogy. It should be long, IMO.

I remember when these films were entertainment instead of political propaganda.

This trailer needs to knock it out of the park

Meh. TLJ had one of the best SW trailers ever and our expectations were subverted.

Tagline: Forget Episode VIII ever happened. And, oh look...it's the Emperor! He's back!

TLJ had massive hype. There's not much excitement for TROS, not yet at least.

I can't think of a Star Wars film I have cared less about.

That will be the legacy of the Disney SW trilogy.

It drove off a ton of the old fan base and brought in almost no new fans.

I have zero interest in it.
I will watch it if it comes free on one of the streaming services but if not, I won't miss not seeing it.

I didn't like TLJ but i will still be there opening night for this one. I haven't had a lot of buzz for it leading up to now, but i am starting to get a little hyped about seeing it. I liked TFA so hopefully JJ can turn it around and end it good.

Yeah, the part where our heroes face off against Darth Trump and the GOP Lords really took me out of the story.

This is the part i don't understand with them.
The original Star War fans were people born in the 60's and 70's for the most part. Those fans had kids and most of the kids of those fans watched Star Wars and saw how much their, usually dad, loved the movies and wanted to watch them too, so they did, and became fans of it as well. So now you have fans from the 80's and 90's as well. Then the prequels came out, and while they weren't great obviously, they still told a good story about Anakin Skywalker and how the Emperor came to be, and those fans from the 60-s to 90's watched them. And you lost some original fans with those prequels.

Then they decided to come out with TFA, which was basically an homage to the original SW, and it made gobs of money, b/c most of those older fans liked that movie.

I guess they thought they were moving forward and away from the OT characters, and TFA didn't really do that b/c all anyone cared about was seeing Luke in TLJ, so they had to really drive the point home that they want to move on from the OT characters.
So they made TLJ.
They managed to piss off the vast majority of those fans that were born in the 60's-90's. Well those fans born in the 80's and 90's, hate this new Star Wars, and aren't going to bring their kids to see this crap, or buy merchandise for their kids, and thus, their kids won't give a shite about Star Wars either, and thus, those fans from the 60's and 70's get older and don't care anymore, the 80's-90's group have lost interest b/c you shite on them, and the kids of today don't have much interest in SW b/c their parents have no reverence for the new movies like their grandparents did, which is what made the parents of today huge fans of SW when they were kids.

That's how you lose your old fan base, and don't attract a new fan base either.
