Everyone(including me) who just leaves the movie theater comes out thinking it was decent. A few hours later or the next day it dawns on you that the movie was a steaming pile of shite.

Rey's whole entire life was a struggle and battle

That has nothing to do with mastering the force and its techniques. I know she had a tough life, that doesn't make her an insanely powerful Jedi Master.

Or are you're saying every little slave kid is now as powerful as Rey in the force without any force training or guidance?

And if so, doesn't that render the entire concept of the force obsolete?

380 critics reviews - 92%

134,000 regular people reviews - 54%

You side with the black frame glasses snoots. I side with the people.

Why didn't he just, you know, actually sacrifice himself? Why not go face Kylo himself?

Did you watch the same movie as me?

Maybe he knew it would be more effective doing what he did than go there and get his arse whipped by the little boy he was so afraid of. I’ll argue that he was right doing what he did.

The force was invented by a director who got high as balls one day

I don't think to much into it

what was "good" about Luke's story line

Every single thing from beginning to end made no sense

well the whole point of this thread is that 54% isn't enough for some people, that just can't be true. their opinion is so valuable well it must have been bots, trolls and Nazis that spammed all the review sites...it's even lower on metacritic which was originally used to say the RT ratings were spammed, but then general audiences saw it on Friday and Saturday night...4.8

I believe half the people who saw it liked it, and I also think anticipation and the star wars curve had a lot to do with that, but who cares? half the people liked it. I believe people liked it...it's these weirdos who cannot fathom that half the audience didn't like it. that's really weird to me.

I am definitely cool with people that didn't like it. Strong seems normal about not liking it

Some people seem to be not liking it due to them thinking they have an actual calling to the force themselves....

according to gary kurtz he and lucas spent months talking about it conceptually...how vague to be, etc.

star wars is a popcorn movie, but it's an awesome one. empire is a great movie period. good movies have thought put into them...surprising, I know.

johsnosn penned this script before they even finished the force awakens.

Personally, I enjoyed all of it and loved how it ended. I thought it was a fitting finale for him.

But that’s the thing youre supposed to take away from this movie. Anyone can use the force now.

Anyone could use the force in the prequels and the original trilogy. I don't have a problem with that. There were plenty of Sith and Jedi from all different cultures and backgrounds of varying power.

I do not give the least amount of frick that Rey's lineage is not tied to the Skywalkers. Did you even read my post?

My problem is she did nothing at all to earn her mastery of this technique.

It would be like if Jet Li made a Martial Arts epic with this group of monks who have been training their entire lives in Kung Fu and some orphan kid who has never fought, trained in, or even seen Kung Fu walks in off the streets and beats the shite out of all of them with a blind fold on and without breaking a sweat with no explanation and then the credits roll.

That would be a shitty movie. Because it makes no sense.

Did you read the "fresh" reviews? Some of them flat out say the movie was a boring slog mediocre at best. Then get rated fresh.

it was never established or used as a plot device that there was an aristocracy of force users. there's a difference between that and people being fatigued with the name "skywalker" so Johnson found a solution to a non existent problem. and then shoved out rey from the climax so he could have a fakey fake special effects scene with...wait for it...a skywalker the movie is is own contradiction. characters are written backwards, it's just total slop structurally, conceptually and definitely in the execution of it all.

ironically, this movie is so aware of and obsessed with fan chatter and expectations. just make your fricking movie

Did you read through any of the bad reviews in order to see if any had positive words?

I bet you didn't...

He got his arse whipped anyway. And then died anyway. So his actions make no sense.

Killing himself alone on an island instead of actually facing down his opponents and possibly dieing?

The wall of text? No. I found something I wanted to address and addressed it.

Why do you think she had it mastered? I don’t have that impression at all. How many times in the trailer and the movie the word “raw” referencing her power?

That whole jet li analogy is pretty dumb iyam. I don’t see Rey being like that at all

It was fun, I think they did Luke right.

That's a joke, right? Hell even Luke doesn't think they did Luke right. You think Luke done right is him milking an alien and staring up at Rey like some disturbed idiot? I could forgive a lot of the other stupid shite Rian did from Mary Poppins to wrecking every emotional scene with some sophomoric joke, but he straight up engaged in character assassination of Luke.

Yes. They say most of what we said.

There was some cool shite, overall the movie sucked.

What character assasination?

Luke he always been a whiney emotional bitch

That held consistent in this movie

A good plot twist would Kylo being Luke's son, because his personality of being a whiney emotional pussy is similar
