why does she have a British accent then? Especially if the "she was trained and then her memory was erased" theory was correct
People tend to develop accents based on what sounds right to them. Watch the show "Alaskan Bush people" those kids have some jacked up accents, not one sounds American.
She wasn't around a lot of humans, and from what we saw of her, she knows at least a dozen languages including binary. She probably learned by watching old Empire made linguist tapes on Holo-disk or something.

Rey was fantastic and she's only going to get better as a character. All JJ did was lay the foundation and the bones of the series.
As much as this board sucks off Looper and Breaking Bad, I would assume people are jacked for Rian Johnson to take over.

Like the stormtroopers actually felt kinda dangerous,
I like that they gave them some emotion and though based dialogue. Finn feeling sad for his dead friend that wiped his helmet, "like Bubba did with Forrest" I was told by a kid. (that meant they were friends, she said) Even kids caught the new Storm troopers had a story to them. I liked it.
They also made their shots, and blasted the shite out of people, no more every shot a miss.
I think I need to go see it again this weekend.

I wish Finn wasn't a lowly private who worked in sanitation. I think it would have been better if he were an experience warrior or tie fighter pilot who had grown sick of the First Order's atrocities over the years and finally decided to defect.

The ship is built to withstand damage, what is so wrong with that?
I think people are forgetting that while the Millennium Falcon is old, Hyperspace travel is thousands of years old in that universe. (The prequels mention the Jedi keeping peace for 10,000 years, and we have seen two characters that were near 1,000) But the main thing is, space ships have shields.
Shields protect damage. That,s why it holds up better when hitting things at hundreds of miles an hour.

Much harder to make a like able character if he contributed to genocide

Lando managed to knock that radar dish right off.

Not really. Could have made his character much deeper. Internal turmoil over having so many demons in his closet. I think it would have been great.

At the end of the day, it's a kids movie and he's the fresh new star that they need to be successful as much as Rey. You can't have him be a murderer and expect kids to love him unless it's a greedo level scene
Those no coming back from Killing innocent villagers

Oh you mean the greatest movie villain ever that turns good for all of 30 seconds in an entire trilogy?
I'd say that's not the best comparison you could make

I apologize for bringing this up if it's already been covered, but have we speculated what Snoke's connection to the Dark Side/Palpatine is? Very interested in learning who he is and where he comes from.
Also, during the movie I was kind of disappointed with how weak Kylo Ren actually was, but by the end I thought they did it perfectly. He has a lot to learn and is going to become a badass. So is Rey, obviously.

I agree. People were so excited about episode I that it took quite a while before people were willing to admit that it sucked. While TFA didn't suck, opinion will start to drift down over time. I think it'll settle around a 7.9 or 8.0 on IMDB.

He murdered an entire village of sand people and wasn't a villain for another movie and a half. I guess kids weren't rooting for him at all during episode 3?

They wouldn't have had to actually show him slaughtering innocents. I would have had him flying air cover for the attack or something. Then refusing to fire on the village and being shot down by his fellow tie fighters. Then he could have eventually taken over Han's role as the captain of the Falcon with a jaded past and questionable morals and an intimate knowledge of the First Order.

True but Episode I also had the benefit of not following the Prequels. Star Wars fans were burned by the Prequels so I think many more had reservations about this one unlike Episode I.
The Force Awakens makes none of the mistakes the Prequels did and, in my opinion, was better than ROTJ. I think a legitimate discussion is to be had as to whether it was better than A New Hope. I'm going to watch a few more times before I start comparing the two.

I think the sanitation line was a joke. Phasma thought he could have been one of the best troopers the First Order had and was officer material per his canon wookieepedia page.
