anyone with a strong mind? Obviously her and Ren cant influence each other. She might not have been able to influence anyone other than a mindless thoughtless storm trooper.
We've never seen anyone other than mindless minions be mind controlled before. Stop diminishing the accomplishment, it only weakens the view of power most people have of Obi Wan and Luke had, which is my issue. It's miminalizing the training and dedication it takes be be a Jedi, in order for a "oh look Rey's a Jedi!" Moment without a second of training

I was waiting for him to warg into Jon Snow

Almost all of Luke's training was learning to accept who he was and to believe in and trust the force. That was basically his entire problem. Not enough faith in himself or the force. Rey was ready and willing to use the force. Do or do not. There is not try.

And, he's the ugliest motherfricker in the universe, though those ears make me more receptive to the possibility of extraterrestrial life forms, so maybe it's a positive.
Did you wish he was more hot so you could jerk off to him when you get home. Sorry, but an actor's attractiveness doesn't really enter my head all that much. Maybe you were out to get your rocks off.

I don't know. That was Rey's arc here too. She didn't accept the lightsaber when first given to her.

I think that was for a completely different reason... her past. Not her trust in herself or belief in the force.
IMO of course.

It appears Disney has destroyed the entire concept of The Force.
Instead of being a tool that one must spend years learning to control, wield, and manipulate, it now suddenly has a "conscious" that picks winners and losers.
The final scene where Rey picks up a lightsaber for the first time in her life and takes down Kylo was laughable.

But you'll get one thing moving forward. He'll be in the mask for a while thanks to Rey...
Thank God, i will agree with blue boy on that. Not because Driver is ugly, (Even though he is) but because the mask is awesome and i think it's better when he's wearing it. Just gives him more of a mystique.
Rey kicked that arse

And the name of the movie is THE FORCE AWAKENS. Pretty clearly referring to Rey. It hit her a lot harder and faster than it did Luke or anyone else.

I agree. She saw the past and she saw the force and she saw the power and she saw herself. That's a crazy thing to see in a non-life dead scenario.
But after being tortured by a force aware and trained individual, feeling the force as she repelled hima nd sensed his fear, and fearing for the life and safety of her friends, and knowing her life might be ending soon, she trusted in herself and the force.
I thought it was a very cool scene and it was well done.

So Yoda was essentially a bad motivational poster

the only thing i am dissapointed in in this movie is that he took his mask off the first time he confronted Rey.
Had he had his mask on that whole scene it wouldve been more moving I think.
And if the first reveal with the mask off to the audience was also his reveal of his face to his father before he killed him it would have made that scene that much more powerful.
that is my only gripe from the movie.

Also, much of Luke's time was spent learning to trust and accept the use of the force.
Rey was willing to trust herself and believe. That was over half of Luke's training. Learning to trust in the force.
Luke was a whiny weak farmboy that had great ideas for himself and when introduced to the force fought to trust it.
Rey was a strong independent scavenger fighting for self-preservation. It's not unlikely that should would feel the force surging and trust it.

This is a good point. Hell even in Empire he says after Yoda pulls his X-Wing from the swamp "I dont believe it."
Then Yoda says "That is why you fail" I think part of Rey's journey will be dealing with how much power she has, while also dealing with the fact her cousin is a dark side user while also being left behind by Luke and having a lot of anger towards him. Thus, leading her to the dark side.

No. That's not what i said at all.
But Yoda was an old dying man by the time Luke met him.He had seen the greatest force user of all time slaughter all of his friends and turn to the darkside and he had witnessed and felt a lifetime of death and horrors. He wast exactly a Jedi master in his prime.
And Luke and Rey had extremely different personalities and circumstances.

Exactly. Luke was protected and sheltered from everything until the droids showed up. Rey essentially raised herself and took her licks along the way. She was a lot more grown up than Luke was when we met them both.
