Look bro, I read a crap ton of GI Joe and X-Men comics as a kid. It didn't ruin my day when I found out the movies would be different. Different mediums, different audiences, different story. It's OK. Life will go on.

I'm not saying I'm upset about it. I'm just wondering what the big deal is. I'd prefer originalty to what people have already seen or read. I just don't expect it from JJ. But hey, first time for everything, right?

Showed my mom (who's a big Star Wars fan) and the minute the black guy popped up, "is this a funny or serious Star Wars?"

I got an instaboner when the MF showed up

With your mom sitting there? Gross.

I love the more lived in design, going back to the original series. The prequels were too clean. The Star Wars universe was clunky and dirty. It felt lived in.

In reference to the ball droid:

The prequels present a more pristine past, while the original trilogy gives us what George Lucas always referred to as a 'used universe'. Here, we see that the galaxy has continued to deteriorate, as the ships and droids on display look worn down and a little worse for wear.

That looks impressive. Going to watch the original trilogy in its entirety for the first time this week. I've only seen Empire a bunch of times and then episode 1 which was terrible. Are episodes 2 and 3 even worth watching?

2 is awful. The 3rd is the least bad of the three. They are all bad but you kinda have to watch them because of what they are.

Potential spoiler. Huge spoiler. Rumor. I warned you, it's a fricking spoiler/rumor

A lot of people think that it's benedict cumberbatch who is doing the narration. there are rumors that he's been in this movie for awhile but they haven't amounted to much. Others say that it is Andy serkis who is doing the narration.

I thought it was common knowledge that it was Serkis.

eta: I've watched this trailer probably 10 times and I still go when the music kicks in and the Falcon appears.

I'm not sure if it is serkis. There was like one word where I thought it was him for sure, but I became less convinced. know he can do a low pitch, but the rhythm of his voice and the rhythm of the narration are different.

The rhythm and timbre definitely sound more like Cumberbatch. However I am doubting it is either. Cumberbatch would have been attached to this by now if he was in it.

Eta: Just listened to it twice, really really don't think it is Cumberbatch.
