I don't know about y'all, but I at least have a little bit of hope for IX after watching the trailer. We'll probably be disappointed like always, but the trailer gave us some things (Palpatine, Leia, Luke, no Rose, etc.) to be slightly excited about.

I think we will get Vader, in some form or fashion, in this movie.

While not in this trailer, I am sad to report she was in that panel thing they had today and they showed stills of her in the movie.

I was wondering what that was. It almost looked similar to the island of the last movie but I’m totally wrong. Would much prefer it be wreckage from the Death Star
Question is, which one is it? It almost looked like it was a beach/ocean scene. You never saw a beach or ocean on Endor or Yavin IV, and in both explosions you never see large pieces of debris flying out into space.
My guess is it is Endor. One because it would have been much closer to the planet, and two, the aftermath of the destruction of that Death Star is a focus of the Aftermath trilogy, which talks about Palpatine and his contingency plans and alludes to the creation of the First Order.

Title and Trailer are great

a rumor going around that JJ will retcon Rey's parentage
This is just false/incomplete. Yoda told Luke that he would see visions through the Force but there was no guarantee they would be true. Kylo didn't find Rey's birth certificate or 23&me, they both just had a vision that reflected her insecurities.

They obviously couldn't cut her, the optics would never allow that. She's gonna get the treatment Jar Jar got in episode 2, she'll have like 2 lines in two or three scenes.

None. They cant wash away TLJ from the storyline and it's pretty obvious Rey is going to be canceling out what Anakin did over basically 6 movies.
They are canceling out everything gained from the OT and prequel in terms of the force. Rey, a strong powerful womyn can stand on top of it all and roar over men.

Just watched it, still don't have the want to see it theaters.
I usually stay away from spoilers till I watch the thing but I've lifted that for this franchise. Spoil way, baws.

I agree but I think it’ll really be Palpatine playing with Kylo’s head.
Kelly Marie Tran was on the panel and they showed a set photo of her and Rey. Seriously doubt she’ll have much of a role.
Also, I think the scene with the TIE Silencer/Kylo, and Rey happens early. Daisy had an interesting way of answering the lightsaber question that leads me to believe the one they are showing now is not the one she ends the film with. Or at least not how it is presented.

it's just crazy to me that they have this insanely fleshed out world to play in, but they want to keep the same lineages, villains, etc. No creativity, playing it as safe as can be.
Episode VIII put them in a box. What could you possibly do after that? Luke, Leia, and Han are gone. Snoke, the villain you were building throughout the trilogy, is suddenly killed off.
Who's the big bad for the film? Kylo? General Hux? There's just no one else left. Bringing back Palpatine was almost a must. Not only does it give you the big villain you need for a film like this, but it provides an opportunity to neatly wrap up all 9 films.
And it's not something I'm opposing. As someone who had zero interest in this franchise after Episode VIII, I'm interested again. The "Rise of Skywalker" title is also encouraging as we may finally get some context regarding Rey.

. Maybe Luke and Anakin found a way to reincarnate Anakin in physical form because they felt the disturbance of Sheev still being alive. Knowing that in order to finally destroy him, Anakin’s force essence needs to be at its full potential. As it was before he was corrupted and had his powers diminished on Mustafar. It would explain why we haven’t had any force ghost versions of Anakin in the new trilogy. And Sheev certainly knew enough about Vader to trick Kylo into believing it was Vader guiding him.
I disagree with any attempt to cancel or write over what Anakin accomplished in anyway. If they have to jump through that many hoops then maybe they should have never done it.

Technically it would be Anakin doing it so it doesn’t cancel it out?

I think JJ’s plan from the beginning has always been this... plus merchandising!!!

Nah. That's a stretch. Hes "reincarnated" as a completely different person?
What was all of that force ghost shite at the end of RotJ then?
I think in no way did the story open up for any reincarnation but the idea seems like a plausible route Disney would take to try and erase Anakin in favor of Rey.
