Weird that they threw in the Emperor’s laugh there at the end. I want to like Rey, and Kyle, and Poe and Finn. But I just don’t. The Last Jedi fell flat on its arse after having so much potential. If JJ had directed it, you know, someone who actually likes Star Wars, then that movie may have stood a chance.
Under JJ, this trilogy could have been really good, even great. But their problem is they didn’t stick to one director and didn’t have all three movies plotted from the get go

It was and Ian appeared on stage for a brief moment after the trailer played at Celebration.
Since this ties all the films together it’ll be Sheev created Anakin through the force and he has done the same with Rey. Or, Luke created Rey through the force making him her father. I think the 1,000 generation lives in you line Luke delivers hints she was indeed created by the force as an agent of the light. Either way she falls into the Skywalker lineage.

This was a massive slap in the face to TLJ. And Rian Johnson.
We have every indication that Episode VIII is about to be massively retconned.

Pretty good first trailer after the Last Jedi and Solo disasters. Did not see Rose which is a plus.

it's pretty sad that they can't create characters that stand on their own. everyone has to be an OT character's daughter, nephew, old roommate, ex bf, etc. No balls

I was wondering what that was. It almost looked similar to the island of the last movie but I’m totally wrong. Would much prefer it be wreckage from the Death Star

I dont think it's sad at all. I think they've just mishandled the characters.
Star wars was totally inseparable from the Skywalker line for the majority of fans to be interested.
As I've said, they should have transitioned away from the Skywalker stuff much more slowly.

I disagree 100%. This is the Skywalker saga, it needs to be about the Skywalkers. As much as people want to say that means Kylo, it doesn’t.

Between this (if it’s not a misdirection) and them being on another Forrest planet for the 3rd part of the trilogy, they really don’t know how to do anything different than what’s the original trilogy did

it's just crazy to me that they have this insanely fleshed out world to play in, but they want to keep the same lineages, villains, etc. No creativity, playing it as safe as can be.

The obvious plot:
Rey is the re-incarnation of Anakin.
Palapatine is back as well.
Girl Anakin vs Palapatine, for the third time, in the rubber match.
All three trilogies would have basically come down to the two of them battling it out.
