I don't think so because of who is running Star Wars. Do you think for a minute they would accept the reason for their strong, heroic female character is only that way because she was reincarnated from a man?

Episode VIII put them in a box. What could you possibly do after that? Luke, Leia, and Han are gone. Snoke, the villain you were building throughout the trilogy, is suddenly killed off.

Out of all the noise over TLJ, this by far is the most valid complaint IMO.

Maz said “I have lived long enough to see the same eyes in different people”. Could mean reincarnation, she was force sensitive after all.

Or you can view it as the Force choosing the body of a male as it’s living embodiment as a mistake and corrected that mistake by using a female host, Rey, in its second physical incarnation.

I could see that route happening, but it would be dumb to just repeat the entire OT.

Rey is Anakin
Kylo is basically Vader

So what, Anakin reincarnated as Rey (light) faces his own dark side which is represented by Kylo (dark)?

Kylo came to the dark similar to Anakin.

The final balance of the force is for Anakin to balance himself?

I think we will get Vader, in some form or fashion, in this movie.

On a related note, someone overlaid that Vader scene from Rogue One with different music and it's awesome.

thats part of my point. you have this insanely expansive extended universe to draw from. not everything has to be connected to the skywalkers. jump back and forth in the timeline and explore some of these interesting concepts

I’ve heard that is what they plan to do. I’ve seen reports that the guys who produce Game of Thrones have been tapped to make a whole new Star Wars trilogy rumored to take place in the time of the Old Republic long before the time of Skywalker. Personally, I’m really hoping it deal with the time of the New Sith Wars and the ride of Darth Bane. That would be freaking awesome.

And defeat the ultimate corruption in the force, Palpatine. I think you’ve nailed it.

I mean if she just ends up not committing genocide, then they could just the reincarnated female was superior to the original male who went through the genocidal phase.

This is a pretty solid theory too.

For people who don't like the reincarnation angle, remember Anakin was supposedly conceived by the force itself originally.

Under JJ, this trilogy could have been really good, even great. But their problem is they didn’t stick to one director and didn’t have all three movies plotted from the get go

How in God's name anyone thought just winging it with different directors would be a good thing...

How is palpatine going to be back?

My guess is it’s a flashback or a dream or something

Death Star 2 blew up and palpatine clearly got thrown into the fusion core

Seriously, not sketching out the entire main arc of all three movies from the get go was an absolutely terrible idea.

They could have possibly pulled it off but they didn't have the balls to step in and fire Rian when he was setting the house on fire in 8.

The same way all Sith live through the most perilous of injuries, held together by hate.

Remember the Darth Plagius story? About the Sith Lord who supposedly figured out how to bring back people from the dead? It's possible Palpatine somehow had grown powerful enough to do that to himself somehow.

If Jedi can come back as force ghosts, there's nothing that says maybe Sith can't do something similiar.

Meh. As long as that the core people behind the story and overall production is around, having different directors wouldn’t be quite winging it. Game of Thrones has different directors, but with the same two who runners, I doubt most people would know the difference from one director to the next.

Now failing to keep the consistency of the narrative would be winging it, and it appears they’re done that a bit here.

Well, there was a story line where the Emperor had clones of himself. IIRC, the clones didn't last long due to the power they contained. Could be they're doing something similar and that is why Snoke was so jacked up. Maybe steal The Force Unleased Starkiller idea...have Rey be a cloned Skywalker. Who knows?

I'd be a lot more excited by that trailer had ep 8 not been so terrible. This looks like it could actually be decent.

Perhaps just as Jedi like Qui-Gon-Jinn, Yoda, Obwan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker discovered how to become a “force ghost”, Darth Sidious was powerful enough in the force to do the same.
