I see where you're coming from but just disagree
We have Ben Solo. He has that strong Skywalker blood. Has a family. Yet he chooses to be evil. That wasn't enough.
You have Rey. Who comes from nothing. The Force chooses her to be the light to battle Ren's darkness.
The inverse of their relationship is pretty interesting to me but understand it isn't for everyone.
See above, I just don't think they earned it. It seems too constructed, and not natural in THIS film. Not that there isn't a story there. Like I said, I think TFA was good, not, but had a ton of potential for the series moving forward. But TLJ just didn't carry it forward well.

He does? or just like Anakin was he seduced by the dark side?
He chose the dark side over the light when he murdered his father.

Fair enough.

Wasn't he influenced by the dark side before he murdered Han Solo?

Yes and also influenced by the light. It’s mentioned multiple times in the movie. He chose his side at the end.

Since this is a spoilers thread, I would like to know the outline of the whole movie before I see it.
Someone who saw it tell the whole abbreviated story here.

Michael B. Jordon and Jesse Plemons were finalists for Finn.

Go take a piss or shite anytime Finn and Rose are on screen. I promise you’ll miss nothing.

I think Boyega's a decent actor, actually, I just also think he isn't given enough to work with and that the creators have 0 faith in him being a competent character. So we get this terrible, boring, character. Their direction to him must be bad as well, because he hams it up a lot compared to everyone else.

Tatiana Maslany Was a finalist for Rose but the Chunky Asian got the part.

Imagine this real quick,
Let's say TFA is a true ensemble film. Focus on Poe Dameron and his squadron of pilots which includes this girl Rey. Give everyone equal screen time (you know for the most part), rewrite the story without the focus on Rey, for now and make it simply about Poe and his team trying to get the lightsaber and find where Luke is. More of a "chase" movie. Leave most of the rebel stuff out. You can still bring in Han and Chewy that way.
Put in some interesting moments where things don't go as planned, but they always seem to work out, drop "clues" very deftly about Rey wherever you can.
Then Poe and a few members from his team finally find Luke at the end....Poe goes to hand the saber to Luke and Luke says...
"You aren't supposed to give this to me....." Pan to Rey, fade to black.
Something like that. Mapping Rey's story to Luke's only to then make sure she's NOT like Luke was just a waste of time. If you wanted a "New Hero," then you should have made a "New Hero," someone unlike Luke, who was already in the resistance. Someone maybe even who came from Weapon Traders and saw wrong in it, if we were going to play up the Arms Dealers in these films. Someone who just "never knew" but was doing the right thing anyway. That could have been compelling.
Doing the "Luke" thing and then pivoting so quickly wasn't interesting imo. There were way better ways to get to this point.

Why are you apologizing to me?

Saw it today.
The biggest mistake this movie made was glorifying Leia and making Luke look like a douche. By doing that, you completely rip the heart out of old school fans. I liken it to what MoS and BvS did to Superman. Except at least in MoS, Superman was a bad arse. Luke got his arse kicked by a new comer to the force. Then he doesn't even show up to the fight at the end irl. Why not? To save himself? Nope. He dies anyway. fricking stupid. I think that was their biggest mistake. Then they make Leia this all powerful force user all the sudden. It was fricking lame IMO.
The Asian character was fricking terrible. She might be the worst character in Star Wars history, ahead of only child Anakin.
Other than that, I thought it was OK. The Snoke thing didn't really bother me much because I'm not a fanatic so I wasn't disappointed about the fact that he turned out to be nothing.
I also think Rey's parents will turn out to be important, so that didn't bother me.
I think the storyline and connection between Ren and Rey is pretty interesting. Just my opinion there.
But fricking up on Luke is pretty terrible and was a MASSIVE mistake. I can understand people being pissed about that and they should be.
6/10 for me.

Was the board this bad after TFA?

At least kid Anakin is cute and sweet. Rose is a Maoist whore.

I think it's a good idea took but they don't execute it well. Snoke's existence flies in the face of the whole "balanced" idea, as does Luke's speech. So if we are trying to do away with the idea of the "balanced" force, then why do these two have such a connection?
There's a good story there, but given the other choices, they just don't tap into it imo.
