The Last Jedi ruined any chance of that.

It wasn't a shite movie but it completely whiffed on elevating the franchise.
Yep... my feelings as well when I got out of it. I know you NIH. I know that for every positive thought you have for this film, this very quick thought enters your mind: “Deep down you know it’s a piece of shite”. We were all there, and you will join us within 24 hours.

About to be downvoted to hell but......after seeing TLJ and TFA, I now have more of an appreciation for the prequel trilogy. While it could be awful at some times, they truly did set up how the empire came to power. It told a story, while painful at times. When it’s all said and done and you watch all the Star Wars movies from episode 1 to episode 9, I think it might potentially all come together nicely as one story.
I upvoted.
And when you throw in the Clone Wars animated series, it makes the prequels look a hell of a lot better.
With TLJ, Those 40 minutes they completely wasted on the casino planet and sneaking onto Snoke's ship trying to disable the tracker could've been better spent world building and developing a background for the resistance, first order, and Snoke and Rey.
In the prequels, it was a story of a peaceful society and functioning government that has no idea that treason/espionage with public enemy number one is hiding in plain sight and waiting for the right moment to strike until it's too late and it's all gone.

If Benicio del Toro becomes a recurring character it might could save that entire sequence.

I don’t think so. Now granted, this is a whisky infused thought I just had. But if episodes 1-9 were one story, on book, we’d be hitting the climax right now. If you think of this as one story, TLJ actually was a pretty good climax or leading up to climax for an entire story. We don’t need a tonic back stories, we need the big plot to move to where it should be. And that is the rebellion literally being on the brink of ending. I don’t know if TLJ was a great movie or not, but I think it was good for the overall story.

The B plot was certainly an abortion

I’m just seething right now. How did we get here?

Speaking about her character’s stylish-yet-firm leadership, Dern told Vanity Fair: “[Rian is] saying something that’s been a true challenge in feminism. Are we going to lead and be who we are as women in our femininity? Or are we going to dress up in a boy’s clothes to do the boy’s job? I think we’re waking up to what we want feminism to look like.”

And now start thinking what was sacrificed for that. Namely Snoke training Kylo Ren in the Dark Side, which could have been amazing.

Super disappointed with it. Comedy that doesn't work, the abysmal casino side quest, wasting Snoke and Luke. Oh and Leia flying like Mary Poppins.

Snoke in general was handled like shite
Who the hell was he? Instead we were treated to Boyegas terrible acting

Nobody knows who the eff Snoke was. Bad writing.

Disney is full of cultural marxists everywhere.
Star Wars would've been better off with Fox or Warner Bros.
This movie is a good example of why women have no business in combat troops if they're not super powered things and certainly have no business commanding military operations.

People thought he was Vader, or Palpatine, or Mace Windu.
Instead, he's some nobody that we have no clue is and where he came from.

Fin's character should've died in TFA. He has no value whatsoever.
Hell, they even fricked Finn up some more by having the asian save him when he was prepared to sacrifice himself to save the others in the mine by blowing the cannon up.
Like cool lady? Sure you saved him but that cannon just blew a gigantic hole in the mine and they're going in to kill them all now.

Then why Make Luke a central character and give him an arc?
Why have Rey go missing for like 20 minutes at the climax of the movie?
You know there is another movie, right?

Rian Johnson claims that "I have a bad feeling about this was in the movie. It was said by BB-8.

No, he should have survived that and died here. He should have had a heroic death saving the Resinstance from certain death. But you have people like AshLSU who think that Rose was doing the Greater Good by saving Finn from his heroic death and dooming everyone else: LINK
Rose is a selfish stupid whore who nearly dooms everyone in the name of BBC. If Luke and Rey didn’t arrive, then their death would have been assured thanks to Rose being a dumb count.

Yeah, Finn should've tore Rose's head off for that stupid and catastrophic decision, not just whisper sweet nothings to her. That kind of emotional weakness revealed Finn being an empty barrel with nothing in his head. Just another reason why his character sucks arse.

The prequels actually had a set plot from the beginning through ep3. This sequel trilogy seems to be just winging it and making the shite up as we go. It’s pretty bad.

Bro, Finn has mopped the floor and taken out the trash at every top secret military facility the First Irser has which is why, as a janitor, he can tell you exactly where to place charges in the thermal oscillator and how to fool the super secret light speed tracking machine into not tracking the rebel fleet.
