No, he should have survived that and died here. He should have had a heroic death saving the Resinstance from certain death.

This would have certainly completed his arc. He was like Han initially in TFA, concerned with self preservation. He came around by the end of TFA and dying for something bigger than himself would have been perfect for him. It would have also given the ending a darker tone, which was missing entirely.

I actually like Finn more than Poe. It feels like they are trying to hard to make Poe the next Hann. I think Finn though is a character with actual flaws and complexes from being a soldier with the first order. I think his death needs to be involved with Rey somehow.

Bro, Finn has mopped the floor and taken out the trash at every top secret military facility the First Order has which is why, as a janitor, he can tell you exactly where to place charges in the thermal oscillator and how to fool the super secret light speed tracking machine into not tracking the rebel fleet.

This fits pretty well and nicely with.....

This sequel trilogy seems to be just winging it and making the shite up as we go. It’s pretty bad.

frick disney for letting a cultural marxist like Rian Johnson direct Star Wars.

That decision is so WTF it's like some awkward dude taking off all of his clothes in a public bathroom butt arse naked just to take a piss. And yes I actually saw that happen in real life. Had me in tears laughing for a long time afterwards.

I went into the theater with a preconceived notion that it was a 95% on RT and one of my favorite directors was helming it.

Why is he so many people's favorite director? He barely made anything. I liked Looper but it wasn't so good that I plan on watching again. People claimed he was a great writer on Breaking Bad. I'd argue the lines in this film were some of the worst in the saga.

If multiple planets being destroyed by Starkiller base didn't unite the galaxy against the First Order, how will Luke Skywalker dying do so and inspire others?

And the more I think about it the more angry I become. Like just have all of it focused on Kylo Ren and Rey’s training, them interconnecting after each session feeling connected, and in the end Kylo destroys and betrays her in a lightsaber duel. That would have been as powerful as shite, but instead they puss out.

I’ll tell you even over Abrams and Brad Bird who should have directed this: Alex Garland. It should have had the tone of Ex Machina and the betrayal at the end.

Holy shite I didn't even think of that. Luke didn't inspire anyone. fricking Rose and Finn freeing the horse inspired more people lmao

You know, they missed out on a great cameo in this movie.... Lando should have been in the casino.

As soon as BDT started talking in the corner, my first thought was Lando. It would make a lot of sense why he would be there.

Indeed it has.

And I thought DC and Warner bros letting Zack Snyder direct Superman, Justice League and Suicde Squad was as bad as it gets and even more so that they're still letting him stick around in the background instead of cutting that cancer out.

Rian Johnson seems determined to challenge him for the title of WOAT hire though.

You know the Alex Garland angle I’ve just thought of has just done me in. I’m totally enraged thinking that through. fricking ignore the Resistance for a movie and keep focused on Kylo and Rey. It would have been one of the best sequels of all time if they had done that. Do some sort of daily Force briefing between them and their frustrating training, and then just betrayal in the end. Would have separated it from Empire and been spectacular.

Instead they focus on SJW bullshite and an OJ Simpson chase.

Instead we get a bizzare Justin Theroux cameo

Maaaan, just to think in ESB we're introduced to badasses like Lando, Boba Fett and Yoda

And who do we get in this one? An annoying chubby azn chick, an uncharasmatic purple haired Laura Dern, and a forgettable stuttering BDT

I mean shite it's Disney who for a long time now isn't exactly known for great story telling that focuses on in depth character and plot development that provides deeper meanings to cannon.

Instead they just make movies that are too easy to understand and won't offend the "wrong people".

When was the last truly great movie from Disney that truly sticks out in your mind?

Well they largely let Pixar do their own things, so fairly recent in Coco.

But yeah I see your point that they won’t let a big franchise take the risk I just proposed... but that would have been amazing if they did.

Unfortunately for the rest of us who want great movies like what we just described, Disney has a profitable business model where they know they can get away with movies that is either bland cookie cutter crap or does everything they can to pander to the "right people" even though they may not be as die hard fans as the originals were and were never that loyal and will never be.

Doubt we'll see Lando in the new trilogy but the perfect way to open the Solo movie is having Lando at Han's funeral and than flashing back to young Han Solo. Also I'd like to see Wedge show up at some point.

Any hope of a good Star Wars franchise just died here.

There was a deleted scene where Tom Hardy played a Storm tropper and thinks Finn is a double agent and slaps him on the arse. Fits Rian's humor.
