I get that, but if anything, I would have thought it would have been more of a personal hatred for Luke alone. (Though I understand your point as well)

Super Leia Space Walk was easily the worst part of the film.

I was afraid that second trailer that shows Ren bearing down on the Mon Cal Cruiser, cutting to Leia on the bridge, was going to spoil Ren taking her out. One of the TIEs on his wing fired when he pussed out, but that was pretty weak.

I'd even have been happier with Ren reaching out with the Force and moving her body back to the airlock.

I left the theater last night very disappointed. I thought The Force Awakens set this movie up to be an epic sequel and Rian Johnson completely fumbled it.

Here are my issues with this movie:

- Leia floating through space like Mary Poppins. I thought the guy next to me was going to complain because my eye rolling was too loud and disturbing him.

- The Rose character. Why do they insist on adding more characters when they haven't even developed the characters from the previous film? One of the biggest mysteries going into last night was the backstory/origin of Snoke. Where did he come from? What was his role in the OT? Also, I was interested to see what Maz Katana's purpose is as she seemed to have a good understanding of the force and was in possession of Luke's lightsaber. I had completely forgotten about her halfway through the movie until she makes a cameo in a hologram. Instead we get a 40 minute sub plot around an insignificant character like Rose about her family and how these llamas are mistreated by rich people?

- Finn trying to sacrifice himself by flying his ship into the laser only to be "saved" by Rose crashing her ship into him which probably should have killed them both.

- The subplot on Canto Bight. they spent a third of the movie on this mission to find a code breaker to get them on the First Order ship to disable the tracking to allow the Resistance to escape. As it turns out they fail and it wasn't even necessary since the Resistance bailed in the shuttles. I'm convinced the only reason that was written in was because they needed a way for Finn to get on the ship to duel Phasma and to get Benecio Del Toro a role in the movie.

- BB-8 operating the AT-ST. Enough said.

- The endless amount of forced humor especially from Luke. I enjoy a few witty quips from a character like Poe and BB-8 but they absolutely turned jedi master Luke into the comic relief of the movie. I also get annoyed by the forced humor with First Order officers around Kylo Ren.

- The whole Luke force projection. I can't believe that you return one of the greatest heroes in movie history and you don't have him leave the island let alone fight with a lightsaber.

- The prequel-esque CGI in the Crait battle. This is nitpicking but is was just so obvious.

I wish Abrams would have just done all three so there could be some continuity because the tone of this movie was completely different from TFA. There is no excitement left for Episode 9 like there was going into this one.

BB-8 is now making this look subtle by comparison:

There’s nothing in the prequels as good as driver or Ridley

But the prequels were actually less bloated and less frustrating to watch. And they didn’t ruin anything. The OT is the OT. This ruins the new trilogy. It’s done. I don’t care to see Episode IX

Johnson was so hellbent on subverting expectations that half the time he ended up hurting his own movie

Ren is going to kill leia

Sike

Someone else does

Sike

She’s Superman

Same thing with Boyega’s sacrifice or would be sacrifice

I think she didn't trust Poe because he is a reckless character. He would have opposed her idea for being "cowardly". Contrary to most opinions on this thread, I think Admiral Holdo is my favorite new character in this movie.

Yeah, Ren is such a badass he cant even pull a trigger after knifing daddy up close? Oh but he's totally ready to be a Sith Lord supreme leader. He can't even feel the "presence of his old master".

Snoke is immensely more powerful in the force, he can choke from a galaxy away, he can easily toss aside Reys grab of the sabre even tapping her on the head with it "foolish child" while Ren can't even nudge Rey's pull.

The emperor in ROTJ could "feel the hate" building in Luke, he could sense Vader's questioning the destruction of Luke...."but if he can be turned".

Vader only got the best of the emporer because he was actively sparking up Luke and putting his focus on his rage lightning. Snoke seemed to be on par with Palpatine if not having a greater control of the force. Its all just hard to digest.

Yeah Rey disappearing for 20 minutes was noticeable

And really something I’ve only ever seen in disaster porn schlock transformers movie where Optimus prime is in a web for 30 minutes of the movie

When you forget about the main character for that long, your movie is too bloated

And Poe was right, they killed almost everyone on the way down to the planet

But Poe somehow learned something from that at the end the entire rebellion fits in the millennium

So they say forget the tropes, then set it up as the trope of tropes by establishing the resistance as the rebellion

But like 15 people isn’t a rebellion this movie sucked so hard

He says in the movie that killing Han caused even more conflict in him rather than ending it.

how about how they went from being the resistance to being the rebels again halfway through the movie for no reason

to be a rebellion doesn't there need to be an existing government that you're "rebelling" against?

Yes yes yes. Abrams set up the next director wth a perfect opportunity to knock it out of the park with TLJ and this is just very disappointing.

Most of the interesting stuff in TFA is ruined now too imo
