Too many people in the cast, too many story threads, action scenes are just like the prequels in terms of shoving shite wherever you can. The humor is tone crushing like I’ve never seen. Shitty dialogue, shitty delivery
This stuff is what killed the movie for many people. Just piss poor direction/writing

Yeah it was all just pretty choreography. The force move of the lightsaber was cool.
But you're right, who the frick is Snoke and why should I care that he's dead?

umm you realize with the way it was presented that Finn/Rose/Poe are the real antagonists outside of the first order right?
Let’s break it down by ignoring their hijinks and see things from just the purple haired lady’s perspective.
She knows Poe was demoted because his insubordination killed hundreds of people. She has a fantastic workable plan and this guy gets in her face and demands answers.
She doesnt trust this guy (because, you know, he has blood on his hands) and has him removed from the crew. He returns in a furious rage later and yells at her, calling her a traitor on her own bridge. He is removed again. He comes back again and commits mutiny and has her held at gunpoint. He reveals his plan, and she breaks free to salvage the actual better plan. The problem is she must now sacrifice herself and their most powerful ship because of Poe and his team’s incompetence which ultimately destroys her brilliant plan and leads to the death of thousands of members of the resistance.
He’s written as a villain and most people are too dumb to see it.

Oh and I hated that Rose dipshit knocking Finn off his path. It was a perfect moment to have the former Storm trooper give his life up for the rebellion. Pointless to have her frick it all up and endanger the resistance leaders like that.

The Leia space scene reminded me of the beginning of Katy Perry's E.T. music video

Can I get a summary from this thread about what y’all didn’t like about the movie??
Everyone agrees that the B-Plot is awful and want a cut of the film where they axe all of it.

The opening scene would have been awesome but they ruined it right off the bat with that stupid prank call bit
Same with the very early Luke/Rey...then the gag humor went from fricking up something that could’ve been good to being just another awful part of an awful movie
Boyega, dern, Isaac, Asian girl, del toro...they’re all horrible in this movie, they’re all poorly written, inconsequential, boring...by the end I was just rooting for Kylo to kill everyone as some kind of vengeance on behalf of the audience

Yeah the movie picked up from the casino scene through that moment when everything fell apart again. It was a cartoonish and silly way to end what could have been the most significant part of the movie.

And the c plot, and the d plot
Too many characters and besides Rey and ren they all suck balls

That all depends on hoping they don't notice their ships leaving.

They were doing this already. The biggest ship was the one they were tracking.

Agreed. I was really happy that they found a way to give Finn a solid, full arc....then Rose because reasons.

If you would’ve told me I would hate this movie yesterday I’d say no fricking way
I’m shocked

We never see the relationship between he and ren nor do we know who snoke is really so why should we care?
One thing that I was expecting from this movie is that we’d finally see some Dark Side training and that Rey and Kylo would have a parallel story in training in the Force. Well we didn’t get that. That could have been really interesting to see.

He wasn't a ghost. He was still alive at the time. He projected his image.
Well he wasn’t physically there, so I don’t see why that would work on a droid.

yeah the idea of lets send 1 fighter to stall then knock out their canons bc the dreadnaught cant handle 1 small fighter was a good one but the bungled it not only with the inappropriate humor but then he ridiculously is able to evade like 30 tie fighters? I know he's a good pilot but come on. Couldn't he have like uploaded a virus or something to knock out their fighters? idk give me something so my suspension of disbelief isn't shattered every other minute.
really set the tone for the whole movie

I LOVED both Brick and Looper. The idea of that guy making a Star Wars movie was unbelievably exciting. Haven't been this disappointed coming out of a theater since Terminator Genysis.

I mean shite it’s been less than 12 hours since I’ve gotten out of the theater. It took me 10 years to figure out TPM doesn’t have a protagonist.
But yeah, you’re right.

Also this is the 4th movie where death star tech ends up being the biggest threat.
