The most terrible star wars movie ever. Straight garbage. I won't see the next one in the theater

Please don't. It amazes me how every one in this thread was so fired up to hate this movie and yet they all saw it on premiere night. I'm sure you'll be back on premiere night for Episode 9.

Look, if yall really hate new Star Wars that bad just stop caring about it and stop watching. A couple of years ago I finally got tired of comic book movies. So I stopped going to see them all, only the important ones I cared about. I didn't force myself to see every single one knowing I would hate it and bitch about it later. It's very strange how everyone here knew they would hate this movie, saw it and hated it anyways, and take it so personally.

Take a cue from a line in the movie "We should learn to protect those we love, rather than harm those we hate". In this context, when it comes to movies that are intended to be entertainment, try and find things to like and enjoy rather than seeking out the things you dislike.

It blows my mind that people were paid to write this story.

They created this immensely powerful being that can send people soaring across the room, and can summon Force lightning on a whim. And yet, he's killed in the most random, pathetic way, and nothing was actually explained about his character. Who is he? Where was he during the rise of the Empire?

Nothing. No explanation.

It's just ridiculously lazy.

Ben Skywalker doesn't count?

You mean Ben Solo?

Who has killed all the original cast and the Skywalkers (with us knowing his mom is dead)?

And the writers not allowing Like any children

He is not going to find redemption and call himself a Skywalker. Rey is their hero now

Or maybe it's possible to acknowledge that there are iffy plot decisions but overall it's more hit than miss. Like I wasn't a fan of Leah's spacewalk but it's a minor point of contention.

The Star Wars universe is so big that it doesn't need to be just a Skywalker story. The force is bigger than the Skywalkers. That's one of the biggest points of the movie.

No, I meant skywalker. His last name is solo, but he’s a skywalker by blood.

He doesn’t need a redemption story to still be a skywalker.

How much is known about Sidious in the OT?

Not every character needs a back story. This is the Rey/Kylo saga and that's fine.

I really enjoyed it.

Kylo Ren does what not many would think he'd do and kills Snoke. Making him (Kylo) the "supreme leader." Only he doesn't know as much as he thinks he knows.

That's evident at the showdown with Luke at the end. If he was so "in touch" with the Force, he would've seen that for what it was. Luke knew more and it was a blow to Kylo's want to be evil. Basically, he understood that there were things he did not know, even though in his mind, he was the "supreme leader" now that he killed Snoke. Which is what he wanted. To be like Vader. Only he won't, I wouldn't think, admit that he still has to learn things. Just my guess.

I liked Rey in it, I thought Luke was great. Just wish Luke would've stayed but he has to return like Obi Wan did, her training isn't complete.

Likewise, I don't think Snoke is out of the picture either. That was too easy. But it was entertaining.

And those Praetorian guards are badass.

I really enjoyed it. 4 out of 5 stars.

Why did Kylo keep Hux alive? He made it clear he couldn't stand him in the last one but dealt with him because Snoke liked him.

Because Hux was a coward and immediately recognized the transition from Snoke to Ren after Snoke was gone.

He allowed Ren to smack him around, making Ren feel more powerful. Ren just took out Snoke, so with Hux kissing his feet, it made Ren feel like he was invincible.

No. Just No

Then future movies will be like Rogue One to me. They could all die at the end of Ep 9, and I will be like, meh.

Han died, and I hated it
Luke died, and I was like, "Hell No"
When Akbar died, I was "No way"

But when Snoke died, I was "WTH was he about?"
No feelings for for Phasma
If Finn or Rose or Poe die, I wont be crushed
If Kylo dies, I might cheer
If Rey dies, I'll be perplexed, not distraught (and she's already said that she's done with SW after E9)
And when Leia dies, I'll be expecting it

Ep 9 brings no anticipation or excitement for me

Did you actually expect these characters to live?

What has you expecting this? Is it that Carrie Fisher actually died IRL?

Just got home. I have a ton to process. This movie will be one of the most polarizing movies ever made. People will hate it and people will love it & I can completely understand both sides. I'll report back soon enough.

It's getting torched on Twitter. Where do you see them going in 9? I'm so dejected I don't really care at this point. This was the least leaked Star Wars film. I knew all of the spoilers to previous films months in advance. TLJ spoilers didn't really come out until this past week.

I was talking about after you had a scene like this of metal chick and 1,000 storm troopers about to beat Finn and Chin

hyperspace ship cuts ship in two, and then all the troopers are dead except metal chick and a group walking arm to arm toward finn and chin, which B-88 somehow jumps into the at-at to shoot.

Critics online are lumping all the ‘hate’ into people just being mad over Luke, but that’s no where near the core of why people are leaving theaters dissatisfied. The editing is piss poor, it felt like the movie had 5 different endings, it labors on like an Indy art house drama, 40-60 mins of complete useless crap, writing was cringeworthy, lines like,”let’s go Chrome Dome” were brutal and characters were useless. How they showed this cut of this movie to test screeners and focus groups and management was like,”yes, this is it, they love it” boggles my mind

All of this

Plot makes no sense. This is such a convoluted and choppy piece of crap. Let's do this, oh and this, don't forget about that too! Let's add it all in. Let's add characters in who make no sense! Kill them off! 18 hours we are going to chase this ship instead of hyperspacing a ship from somewhere else in the galaxy to get in front of them....and the whole Snoke thing is undeveloped.

Everything is so under-developed. It's like the damn Harry Potter movies, trying to stuff so much in, and failing. They have no idea what they are doing. A few beat scenes, but forgettable.

Let's take stuff from the old movies...

Hoth like planet, check!
Millennium Falcon swoops in to save things, check!
Training on a remote planet, check!

And the worst part: it's such a SJW lovefest of a new trilogy, that no reviewers are willing to come out and say how "meh" it is

Bad bad attempts at humor. Made the movie stupid.
Too much SJW. Big turnoff.
Snoke was doing well and then a predicted death and no backstory was bad.
Kylo ren as the leader now the way he is written is weak.
Leia space flight was so dumb.

Certainly not a great Star wars movie. Not even in the same universe as ESB. I like the Force Awakens a lot more. Now....they will not sell as many tickets for the next one. Its been tarnished.

I was waiting all movie for a shocking moment that never came. Not sure what the hype was about.

I’m going to have to wash the taste out by watching the phantom menace

God what an unbelievable piece of shite. I’m shocked that movie was screened for Kennedy and she didn’t fire him on the spot and then hire someone to chop that baby up
