Star Trek Geek Question of the Week: Who would you want as Engineer?

I suspect most people would go to Scotty but if you think about it, Spock bailed him out most of the time.
Geordi leaned on Data a lot..
My number 1 is O'brien..He kept a Space Space full of non-familiar Tech running that was able to fight of countless battles not to mention the many in-the-field Engineering tricks.
My number 2 is B'lanna Torres. Although Voyager is not the most loved show Torres was the shite.

bullshite. Scotty saved the Enterprise time and time again and earned his reputation as a miracle worker.
He also kicked arse when he commanded the ship.
He also invented transparent aluminum.

Didn't he kind of out himself on TNG though when he tried convince Geordi to lie about the time it would take to get stuff done?

Easy baw...You trying to start a rumble on here?

Geordi La Forge or Scotty. Not sure which of the two I’d prefer. Probably Geordi since I watched that one as it aired.

I think that the crew of Voyager, Torres included, would nominate this engineer:

ACKCHYUALLY if you remember he said to Bones when referring to the plant manager.."How do you know he didnt invent the thing" but I agree scotty was the best.

For all we know, the "miracle worker" reputation any of them earned was due to their own incompetence. Maybe with a little more upkeep the ships wouldn't have been falling apart every time a Romulan gave them a mean look.
Give me Trip from Enterpise. He took an underpowered engine that was supposed to be going for a test ride and kept it going for years, long enough to save humanity from time travelers and a hidden alien menace.

Of Course! Nothing like getting a bunch of Trek fans in-fighting

Plus Trip got pregnant. None of the others could pull that off except B'Lana or whatever.

He also invent trans warp teleportation, enabling transporting onto a ship while it’s in warp drive.
The poor admiral’s dog!

Scotty with Scotty as assistant engineer.
And O'Brien as the field technician.
Final answer.

This little Anakin kid was the best engineer on Star Tracks. He invented that robot, and made his own pod.

his saying he always gave a time higher than needed, so when he got done sooner it made him look good - that is the mentality i have for my job - and it works great

Exactly. Which kind of takes away at least some of that miracle worker shine.

JJ ANYTHING is shite!

Scotty is the only choice. Its Scotty.
Than you have O'Brien handling his light work and Geordi in charge of sneaking booze into Engineering for Scotty to drink. Because otherwise Geordi might hear the dreaded "I always did want to cornhole me a blind bitch" followed by a scene that might have had some trouble getting on the air.
