The reviews the OP quoted all desperately try to link the movie somehow to the current political climate and one even applauds it as a call to action. Those kinds of opinions should be avoided in reviews unless the movie itself includes it.
Judging purely on the trailer, this is a movie I might have liked to go see.
Knowing how the media and certain political parties will use it to further devide the country with ridiculous comparisons, I hope it crashes and burns at the box office.

That's the media's fault, not the movie (in your example).
Also, don't give the media so much power in your decision making.

yep. There have been plenty of quality movies focused on black characters. In fact, there are too many to list here.

It may be a solid movie but John David Washington has very limited range IMO.

His Miracle at St Anne was trashed back in 2008. If it was made now, it would be considered the next Saving Private Ryan
