I meant more the idea of the multiverse than a specific character - but I did not know Miles wasn't created until 2011. I thought it was further back. And I consider the "woke stuff" starting in 2020 but you seem correct in it starting earlier for Disney

I won’t OML or SEK rage post, but most of what we call woke, started around 2010-2012. I don’t take many things after that at face value or in good faith.

Marvel is the worst because Disney bought marvel, had ongoing characters with decades of history come out, race swapped, empowered women, etc. (none of those are inherently “bad” it’s just not organic.) Then when people pushed against it they said “it’s from the source material. Get over it.”

Kinda false. Disney took over in 2009 and started woking around then. Miles Morales was in 2011. It’s what lead to butch Captain Marvel, Kamala Kahn, characters suddenly being gay, etc. Don’t disagree that the both films are excellent and stand on their own merit. 2 of the best I’ve ever seen. That has more to do with Lorde and Miller than the source material.

If you have a problem with more people of color being in Disney shows then you are the one with the problems.

Just saw it with my kids who are 8-9 and wife. Everyone liked it and the graphics were indeed special. Some good humor esp for the adults. Now, it did drag in a couple spots for the kids and overall the movie was long.

But damn, what a great movie overall.

The villain in this one is funny, and played by Jason Schwartzman… he’s the key.

I liked Spot although he disappears for most of the movie

It did feel too long. My kids liked it but got restless.

My kids watched yesterday without me.

They were pissed at the ending.

They thought the movie was great. They were just disturbed that there was no payoff (after such a long movie).

Ages 14 and 16.

Completely disagree. It could have gone on another hour and I still would have been invested.

Good for you, not for people with kids. There is a sequel so maybe you can watch one and immediately go see it? 1.5 hours is perfect film length.

Not to hijack the thread with a hot take but: I think SM2 and Spider Verse are wayyy better both as Spider Man stories and as individual movies. NWH is a great spectacle but I think it’s kind of overrated. Not a bad movie at all. But seeing Tobey, Andrew, Willem Dafoe and Molina again I think clouds a lot of people’s judgements of that movie.

Saw it Friday. I thought it was better than the first and I think is a must see in theatres. Soundtrack/score was incredible and needs the theatre experience to get the full effect.

The short clip of Lego Spider-Man was hilarious. I wish they would have had him in there more.

Loved that the villain looking like he was just going to be some joke of a villain and just be gone after his first scene but turned out to be badass. You couldn't get away with using him in a live action version but he is perfect for animation.

No, but you should watch the first one anyway. It’s sooooo good.

Isn't it amazing that nobody has issues with a black Spiderman like they do with other characters like The Little Mermaid? It's ALMOST as if the issue is not race at all but a lack of good storytelling and original ideas.

That and he’s not a “race swapped Peter Parker.” Miles is very much his own character.

There’s a YouTube video out there about how Into the Spider-Verse “fixed” Miles. When he was introduced in the comics he was, honestly, just Peter’s personality stapled onto someone else. His parental situation was weird, etc.

The movie did WAY better at making them distinctly different characters.

Just saw it with my 14 year old son. I tried to watch the 1st before seeing this with him but only got an hour in. Not saying it was bad just didnt have time to watch. So was going in kinda blind. He loves these movies. I really enjoyed it because it really shows the struggles of trying to raise teenagers these days. Really like the story between Myles and the parents. Easy for parents to relate what they going thru. I'm actually pumped for the next one. This one was long but the action kept it moving nicely.

The cliffhanger wtf??? They could’ve put pt. 1 in the title I’m gutted. It was great but the movie literally cuts off at the climax.

Edit: I now see that it was online that this would be a two parter but I have followed the movie and went in blind. Didn’t realize this was supposed to be a trilogy either.

Yea but the difference is this would be like if that movie cut off when Luke activates his lightsaber to fight Vader. This was some bull shite. There was no true ending.
