I haven't seen this but it looks like Funny Games, which wasn't funny at all and frustrating to watch. Looks like the original at least has the same vibes.

It 100% does. First thought I had is that it reminded me of Michael haneke movies.

I can pretty much guarantee you that they will change the ending. There’s no way the original’s downbeat ending would work for American audiences. I’m hesitant to go see the remake because I just know it won’t be as good.

Like you said on page 1, the Americans are going to fight back.

...which completely invalidates the whole theme of the original.

The Big Picture released a pod today about the American version.

It seems to be as bad as we all predicted.

Supposedly about toxic masculinity more about modern politeness in the upper middle class, and the ending is fully Americanized in all the ways you'd expect.

I’m pretty sure they did. Reviews say if you hated the first one you’ll love this and if you loved the first one you’ll hate this.

I’m a pass. Remakes piss me off for the most part, and this movie is only a few years old.

I want to watch the original, how messed up is the ending? Are we talking torture or harming children or something else?

I said that after I finished it, but I keep recommending it to other people and I want to talk about it with them

I’m not giving the new one a shot.

I read the synopsis…sounds a lot like funny games which also got a shot for shot American remake. The money line “because you let us” is pretty much the same as “because you were home” from the strangers and “why not?” in funny games. in both of those it was made clear that the bad guys were going to “win”…there would be no last girl and the bad things were going to happen to someone else, again and soon

It was probably one of the most disturbing movies I've seen in recent memory. It's not terrifying in the traditional horror movie sense, or bloody, but it got to me.

SPOILERS:

The Danish family had so many chances to get away, but they wouldn't do it, until it was too late. Even after Bjorn discovered what Patrick and Karin were planning, they still went back for that damned toy. At the end, they just laid down and let themselves be murdered. They could've run away. Neither Patrick or Karin had a weapon.

So the first two acts are essentially the same movie as the original, the 3rd act is completely different and typical Hollywood ending, I won't post the spoilers here.
