Pretty sure I saw earlier this year that they are under contract with Comedy Central for another 2 years.

I'm pretty confident this is Matt and Trey telling us that this is indeed the final season. I heavily respect them for ending it when they think they need to end it.

I'll stand firm by my statement that they will not end till they at least have a 12/12/12 episode.. I will be firmly disappointed otherwise.
That and they are in contract for another year I believe.

This isn't the very end, but I would say this is just them bracing the fans for the very end. I'd say we only have 7 episodes left.

Finally got to watch the episode tonight.
I'm in a weird/confused mood now. I feel like I just saw something extremely important and upsetting.

I just saw the episode and read the thread, and here's my (optimistic) guess as to what this means: The show will continue, but there will be changes. Stan is turning into an a-hole, and Kyle and Cartman are becoming close friends. Sharon and Randy are splitting up (a topic toyed with in an early episode), and this will dominate Stan's life.
Perhaps we're entering the 5th Grade Years.

Crazy episode; went from laughing at shite everywhere to feeling extremely sad and depressed

I partly agree with that, but I don't think it's the end at all. I think they'll keep churning out episodes for at least another year or two. They still manage to keep it fresh, even with below-par episodes here and there. And because the show has such a short turnaround when they make them, and since they hammer currents events pretty well, they'll never run out of material.
Also, it could all just reset next episode (like Sharon said), and they could act like the events in this episode never even happened.
If it IS the end, and this is the last season of SP, it will go down as one of my favorite shows that I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

I was not expecting a serious episode. It was quite odd to see Stan ostracized by the group, particularly by Kyle. And the Cartman/Kyle getting along/playing xbox blew my mind. I hope this isn't the end, but if it is, we really can't complain. This show has had a higher batting average when it comes to quality episodes than any other, imo.

I was able to relate to last nights show since my parents also divorced when I was ten and that's right around the time things started seeming shitty.

I didn't see it coming at all. I kept saying to my girlfriend: WHere are they going with this? Whats going to be the gag?
And then it ended. I realized last night how much I love this show and don't want it to end. I'm a little bit depressed.

This is exactly how I felt. I watched this episode right after Black Swan too so I was hoping it would give me some laughs and help delete some of the fricked up images in my head that that movie left.
