I thought the little jab at Comedy Central having their dumb award show that was mandatory was funny.

But yeah, Token getting upset with himself for laughing at tyler perry was hilarious.

I'm just going ot go ahead and say it, this show was better when it was simpler and didn't have all the awesome animation that they can do now. I think they have gotten some sort of George Lucas syndrome or something. I watch reruns on WGN and they are mostly stuff from the first few seasons. The simpler animation was soooo much better and made for a funnier show.

I think the first 3 seasons are worse than the others (with some exceptions), but the animation hasn't changed much at all since the 5th season. South Park's prime was seasons 5-11.

Wow, I couldn't disagree more.

They have definitely fallen off since 206-2007 time frame.

The first and second seasons I don't really find that funny at all and don't think a single episode from either seasons would be in my top 50. Season 3 had some jewels like the Civil War episode and the one where Mr Garrison wants his father to molest him, but I don't think it's nearly as strong as seasons 5 and 6, which were the two best seasons IMO. You kinda miss Butters and Randy in the really early seasons, when now they are two of the best characters.

What happened at the very end? My DVR cut off the last scene and went straight into Workaholics.

I loved the early seasons when I was a kid, but now I don't care for them.

I agree completely. As pathetic as this sounds, South Park has and will always be my favorite show, mostly because I grew up with it and have seen every single episode. I also must say though, that outside of the raw humor in the first few seasons, I love the show because of the real world subject matter it took on later, starting around season 5.

This season's episodes so far haven't been as funny as usual. The Human CentiPad episode was mostly weak, and this one, while it had some funny parts, was pretty weak as well. But this season also reminds me a lot of Season 12. There were a few laughs here and there, but Over Logging and Canada On Strike! were the real gems of that season with not much else.

If you look at the trend of South Park, though, season 14 was a really solid season in terms of outright funny moments. Since Season 5, if the season was pretty funny, you could expect the next one to be marginally funny. Season 11 was phenomenal. It had With Apologies To Jesse Jackson, Cartman Sucks, Night Of The Living Homeless, La Petit Tourette, More Crap, the Imaginationland saga, and even followed that with a solid Guitar Queer-o. Even the weakest shite that season, like D-Yikes!, was decent at worst. Like I said before, season 12 had a few okay episodes, Over Logging, and Canada On Strike!, which I still enjoy.

Another example is with the previous two seasons, season 10, outside of Cartoon Wars and ManBearPig was horseshite. Stanley's Cup was the most unfunny episode of South Park ever. I literally have seen it twice, and I doubt I'll ever watch it again. While season 9 had some great episodes in it. The Losing Edge and Two Days Before The Day After Tomorrow come to mind.

TL;DR Summary: South Park has a trend of letting out a shitty season after a solid one. The first few seasons were funny, but the strongest seasons, in my opinion are 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14. Best episode ever is still Scott Tenorman Must Die!

The first few seasons were awful. I enjoyed them when they first aired because it was fart jokes and I was in 8th grade. They're not funny now if you go back and watch them.

SP may have just set their own bar too high, if an episode "only" made you laugh hard a few times, it sucked. When laughter rate is pretty standard for most comedies.

They really did, the last couple of years have been great. I'm not giving up on it because 2 episodes in a row weren't hysterical....although i'm sure "jumped the shark" will be used a few times in the next couple months

That's the case, really. People expect South Park to deliver every single effort like their greats, but that's just not possible.

did we already discuss the robot and how the story mirrored Doctor Who? it was definitely an obscure reference, but they must've thought it was hilarious bc that was literally a season of Dr. Who
